Redskins vs Chiefs Free Pick

Redskings defense must shut Kareem Hunt downWeek 4 of the NFL regular season concludes with Monday Night Football when the Washington Redskins visit the Kansas City Chiefs in an inter-conference showdown. The current line on top sportsbooks has Kansas City favored by 7 points with the over/under point total on 49.5.

Entering this game, Washington on the season is 2-1 straight up and against the spread. On the road, the Redskins are 1-0 SU and ATS. Kansas City on the season is 3-0 SU and ATS. At home, the Chiefs are 1-0 SU and ATS.

This is the second straight game the Redskins will play an AFC West team in primetime, after beating the Oakland Raiders last week on Sunday Night Football 27-10 limiting star quarterback Derek Carr and his Raiders’ teammates to just 128 yards of total offense.

The Redskins defense held the Raiders to just 32 yards on the ground and did not allow Oakland to convert on third down as the Raiders were 0-for-11. However, on Monday the Redskins defense must try to stop rookie sensation Kareem Hunt.

Hunt took over at the start of the season for Spencer Ware who was injured and leads the NFL in rushing yards with 401.

Last week Hunt rushed for 172 yards against the Chargers in the Chiefs 24-10 victory. He is just the first rookie in 36 seasons to score six touchdowns in the first three games of his career.

The Chiefs offense leads the league with an average of 162 yards per game on the ground, while its total offense is No. 3 averaging 397.2 yards per game.

Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for 365 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Raiders last week. Cousins could have two important offensive skills players back from injury this week. Tight end Jordan Reed and tailback Rob Kelley are likely to return after missing last week’s game.

If the Chiefs have shown a weakness this season it is against the run. The Kansas City defense is No. 19 against the run allowing 111.8 yards per game and No. 21 in yards allowed per rush at 4.3.

Chiefs’ linebacker Justin Houston is No. 3 in the AFC with four quarterback sacks.

Washington is 10-2 ATS in its last 12 games on the road.

Kansas City is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games played.

With this free pick, we like Washington to cover.

Raiders vs Redskins Free Pick

Sunday’s Week 3 schedule of the NFL concludes when the Oakland Raiders visit the nation’s capital to play the Washington Redskins on Sunday Night Football. The current line on top sportsbooks has Oakland favored by 3 points with the over/under point total on 54.5.

Entering this game, Oakland on the season is 2-0 straight up and against the spread. On the road, the Raiders are 1-0 SU and ATS. Washington on the season is 1-1 SU and ATS. At home, the Redskins are 0-1 SU and ATS.

Oakland has started strong this season looks to be a contender with New England for the AFC title. Quarterback Derek Carr leads a potent offense against the Redskins. Carr is 14-3 over his last 17 starts for the Raiders.

Washington opened with a 30-17 loss to Philadelphia at home, but rallied in its second game to beat the Los Angeles Rams 27-20.

Marshawn Lynch unretired to sign with Oakland and last week rushed for 45 yards with one touchdown in the Raiders 45-20 rout of the Jets. The Raiders rushed for 180 in the game.

Carr on the season has thrown 5 touchdown passes and no interceptions through two weeks. Amari Cooper has two straight 1,000 receiving seasons and teams up with Michael Crabtree to form one of the league’s best receiving corps.

Defensively, Khalil Mack is the leader and since the start of the 2015 season has 27 sacks which is tops in the league.

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for close to 5,000 yards in 2016, but has started this season slower, after losing wide receivers to free agency. His new favorite target is Terrelle Pryor a wide receiver who converted from quarterback.

Both Rob Kelley the starting running back and Jordan Reed the starting tight end are questionable for the game due to injuries for Washington.

Last week, the Redskins rushed for 229 yards and will look to establish the run to try to keep Carr and his offense off the field as much as possible.

The Redskins defense is allowing just 77 yards per game on the ground, but Philadelphia passed for over 300 yards against them in Week 1. Josh Norman the Redskins top corner has an injured shoulder and was limited in his workouts this week.

Oakland is 10-3 ATS over its last 13 games on the road.

Washington is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games versus a team with a record above .500.

With this free pick, we like Oakland to cover.

Eagles vs Redskins Free Pick

Week 1 of the NFL regular season features an NFC East showdown Sunday afternoon when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the nation’s capital to play the Washington Redskins. The current line on top sportsbooks has Philadelphia favored by 1 point with the over/under point total on 48.

Last season the Redskins missed the playoffs and quarterback Kirk Cousins returns in an attempt to lead the team back to the postseason in 2017. The Redskins beat the Eagles in both head to head games last season extending Washington’s domination over Philadelphia to five straight games.

However, two wide receivers Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson, who were Cousins’ favorite targets, are no longer with the Redskins and Sean McVay the former offensive coordinator is now the head coach of the Rams. Washington did sign Terrelle Pryor a 1,000-yard receiver from last season for Cleveland to help Cousins.

Last season Philadelphia was last in the NFC East after starting strong under rookie quarterback Carson Wentz but eventually losing ground and finishing in the cellar.

During the offseason, Philadelphia surrounded Wentz with talented skill position players by signing Alshon Jeffery a former Pro Bowler at wide receiver and Torrey Smith another talented wide out from San Francisco.

LaGarrette Blount, who scored 18 touchdowns rushing last season with New England, was also signed by the Eagles.

Wentz completed the most passes (379) of any rookie in NFL history last season. However, last season against Washington Wentz was sacked 9 times.

Besides the addition of Pryor at wide receiver, Washington’s Cousins will have talented tight-end Jordan Reed and wide receiver Jamison Crowder as receiving targets. Rob Kelley, a second year running back will lead a young but talented backfield.

Last season, the Redskins averaged over 403 yards per game on offense, which was No. 3 in the NFL, but their defense allowed nearly 378 yards per game. Ryan Kerrigan was the defensive leader at linebacker and has recorded double-digit quarterback sacks for two straight seasons.

Washington cornerback Josh Norman will have the duty of covering Philadelphia’s Jeffery.

Philadelphia is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games played on grass.

Washington is 10-4 ATS in its last 14 games played overall.

With this free pick, we like Philadelphia to cover.

Washington Redskins 2017 Outlook

The NFC East could be one of the most competitive divisions in the NFC with Dallas and New York expected to battle for first place, but the Washington Redskins in the mix as well.

Last season the Redskins were 8-7-1 and missed out on the postseason.

The Redskins used free agency to shore up both the offense and defense.

They reloaded at wide receiver with the signing of Terrelle Pryor. Washington has had its share of problems when they get into their opponents red zone which is why they led the NFL in attempted field goals in 2016.

The Redskins lost two wide receivers last offseason with Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson departing after both having had 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

However, with the addition of Pryor, who is 6-foot-4, and played well for Cleveland in his first full year as a wide out, the offense will have more options.

Defensively, the Redskins brought in Zach Brown a linebacker. Last season in Buffalo Brown was No. 2 in the NFL in tackles with 149.

The Redskins signed Stacy McGee a defensive end who had 63 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles with the Raiders last season.

Washington signed safety D.J. Swearinger, a former teammate in high school with Josh Norman the star cornerback. Swearinger is very athletic but inconsistent and ineffective as he has not taken to the idea of team.

The Redskins added Jonathan Allen a defensive tackle from Alabama with the No. 17 pick overall in the draft, as well as linebacker Ryan Anderson, also from the Tide.

Kirk Cousins returns under center, but without a long-term contract under his belt, no one knows what will happen after this season, although he has said he wants to remain in Washington.

Jamison Crowder returns as the only legitimate wideout left from last season. Last season he caught 67 passes for 847 yards. Add in Josh Doctson and Jordan Reed at tight end and the team could have a strong passing game even with Jackson and Garcon gone.

Running will be secondary for the Redskins as Cousins is No. 4 in the NFL in passing the past two seasons. However, if opponents stop the passing game by pressuring Cousins too often, then the Redskins have little or no ground game to fall back on.

Washington odds

NFC East – 9 to 2

NFC Championship – 25 to 1

Super Bowl LII – 80 to 1

Packers vs Redskins Free Pick

Questions continue about the play of Rodgers, but Washington defenders and coaches know he is still a future member of the Hall of Fame and cannot be taken lightly. The biggest worry for Green Bay is its porous defense that has allowed 141 points in its past four losses.     › Continue reading
