Celtics vs Heat Free Pick June 9, 2012
Game seven is what every team hopes for. Two teams face that tonight in Miami when the Boston Celtics are hosted by the Miami Heat in the seventh and final game of the eastern conference finals. The Heat forced a game seven with an excellent performance in Boston in game six. Everything is on the line tonight. The victor wins the eastern conference title and plays in the NBA finals, while the loser looks to regroup over a long summer.
Boston has the experience of playing in game sevens and winning titles, as the nucleus of their team Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett won a title together in 2008 and will use that experience to their advantage. Miami’s LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade have not won a title together and do not want a repeat of last season when they lost in the championship series.
James will do all he can to help the Heat to a victory in this game. He scored 45 points in game six and has averaged over 30 for the series. Look for the same tonight from him with supporting roles from Wade and Bosh. Bosh has been hurt and only played sparingly in the two games since he returned from nine games on the sideline.
Boston will look to push the ball inside with Rajon Rondo directing the offense and trying to get the ball down low to Garnett. The Celtics’ Rondo will also look to penetrate to get his own shot and to dish off to teammates when he gets double-teamed.
The line opened with the Heat as the favorite on their home court by 8-points. Currently it sits with Miami as a 7 ½-point favorite with the total holding steady at 179 ½. Smart money takes Boston ATS and Miami SU while the total will make winners of the OVER bettors.
Spurs vs Thunder Free Pick June 2, 2012
The fourth game of the Western Conference finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder will be played tonight in Chesapeake Energy Arena, home of the Thunder. OKC won game three by 20 points over the Spurs to narrow the Spurs’ lead in the series to just 2-1 heading into tonight’s action.
The Spurs shot only 39.5% from the field in game three. Tim Duncan only shot 33% from the field and is shooting just 27% from the field over the last two games combined. Tony Parker, the team’s leading scorer was held to 16 points. Nevertheless, the Spurs still lead the series, still hold home court advantage and reaching the NBA finals still runs through San Antonio.
The Thunder received the normal great offensive punch from Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, the league’s leading scorer. However, they also were helped by Serge Ibaka and Thabo Sefolosha on both the offense end and defensive end. Sefolosha scored 19 points and Ibaka added 14. Defensively, both helped make life miserable for the Spurs with their tough straight up defensive efforts.
The Spurs only scored 82 in game three, but during their 20 game winning streak San Antonio scored 100 or more points 18 times. The Thunder improved to 6-0 SU during the playoffs at home. Overall, in their last 15 home playoff games, the Thunder is 12-3 SU. However, the Thunder has not been too successful ATS in home games after winning a home game. In that scenario, the Thunder is just 4-9 ATS.
The current line has the Thunder as a 3 ½-point favorite after opening with OKC as a 4-point favorite. The total is resting at 202 ½. Smart money is taking the Spurs plus the points to return to their winning form. The total will make winners of those who take the OVER.

Boston is 11-13 on the season and has started slow with new manager Bobby Valentine. In the first game of the series, the Red Sox will use ace Jon Lester. Lester is 1-2 on the season with an ERA of 4.65. Lester is 14-0 lifetime against the Orioles in 18 career starts, with an ERA of 2.36. At Fenway Park Lester is 7-0 with an ERA of 2.16 against the Orioles.
Baltimore took two of their three games against the New York Yankees before arriving in Boston. On Wednesday, they shut out the Yankees 5-0. Baltimore will have Wei-Yin Chen on the mound Friday. Chen is 2-0 on the season with an ERA of 2.22. The southpaw pitched seven innings in his last outing in a 10-1 victory against Oakland. Baltimore coming into the game is winners of 8 of their last 10.
Boston started their home stand on a negative note, as they lost two of their three games against Oakland. They are 1-7 in their last eight home games. Adrian Gonzalez their key hitter was hitless in 4 at bats and struck out with the bases jammed to end a rally in the seventh. He then grounded out in the ninth to end the game on Wednesday. With runners in scoring position, the Red Sox were hitless in 13 at bats.
The current line has the Red Sox as the favorite -175 with Baltimore at +165. The run total is 8.5. Smart money takes the Red Sox in this game behind their ace Lester with the total ending UNDER.
Blue Jays vs Orioles Free Pick April 26, 2012
The Toronto Blue Jays play the Baltimore Orioles in the third game of a three game set at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The Orioles could sweep the series tonight with a win over the Blue Jays. Southpaw Brian Matusz will get the ball tonight for the Orioles who are 11-7 on the season. Matusz is 0-3 on the season with an ERA of 7.98. He remains the only Oriole in the rotation still looking for a win. He has lost 12 consecutive decisions and that is only one shy of a franchise record. He has given up at least five runs on ten occasions during his losing streak.
The Orioles have taken three consecutive and four of five this season against Toronto. The Blue Jays are 10-8 on the season. Drew Hutchinson will start for the Blue Jays. Hutchison is 1-0 on the season with an ERA of 8.44. He won his major league debut in his first start this season for the Blue Jays. The young 21-year old threw 99 pitches over 5 1/3 innings against the Kansas City Royals to earn the win 9-5 against the Royals.
Nolan Reimold did not play again for the Orioles on Wednesday night. The left fielder has now missed four consecutive games with neck spasms. Robert Andino, the starting second baseman, will also most likely miss tonight’s action as he is away on paternity leave. Pedro Strop helped the pitching staff over the first two wins of this series with two saves. He has taken over for Jim Johnson the closer, who was hospitalized on Monday.
The Orioles are favored in this game -115, while the Blue Jays are +105. The total is 9.5. Take the Orioles to win this game and sweep the three game series. The total will end OVER.
Dodgers vs Brewers April 18, 2012
The Los Angeles Dodgers have come out of the starting gates at full speed as they have opened their season 9-2. Tonight they take on the Milwaukee Brewers, who have started their season a bit slower than the Dodgers have, and find themselves as 5-6 on the season. Last night however, the Brewers rallied to beat the Dodgers 5-4 with a walk off win in the ninth.
Before the loss last night against the Brewers, the Dodgers had won six consecutive. Tonight the Dodgers face Zack Greinke who is 1-1 on the season but is unbeatable in Milwaukee. Since he joined the Brewers he is 12-0 at home with just a 2.91 ERA in his 16 home starts.
Chris Capuano will go for the Dodgers tonight. He was hit hard in his Dodgers debut but the former standout with the Brewers returned last Thursday to beat Pittsburgh 3-2. The southpaw only gave up six hit and two runs in 5 1/3 innings combined with seven strikeouts.
On Tuesday, Alex Gonzalez the shortstop for the Brewers missed his fourth straight game, but should be back for tonight’s matchup. Andre Ethier for the Dodgers is leading the National League with 17 RBI’s and teammate Matt Kemp is just one behind with 16. Offensively the Dodgers are putting a lot of runs on the board.
Offensively the Brewers are also scoring as eight of their eleven games have ended OVER. The Dodgers have had six of their first 11 end OVER, three UNDER and two have been a PUSH.
The Brewers are OVER in 6 of their last 7 games against lefthanders, since September of 2011. The Dodgers are 6-1 SU in their last seven games against right handed pitching. Tonight’s game has an OVER of 7.5 and the Dodgers have been scoring a ton of runs this season. Take the Dodgers behind Capuano with the score to end OVER.

If they can win the division they will move up to the fourth spot, otherwise they will be fighting for one of the other four spots and will not have home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Heat will look to bounce back from their whiplash against the Celtics.
Take the Heat less the points in this and look for a low scoring contest to pay out to those who take the UNDER.
