Duke vs North Carolina Free Pick

2/13/2013 free pick Duke vs UNCDuke and UNC square off tonight at 9:00PM EST at Cameron Indoor, Duke University. By all accounts North Carolina is having an off season. They are struggling with most teams in conference and the star players and star coaching have not amounted to much. They are a young team. Duke, on the other hand, has been playing very well this season. Coach K and his veterans are raked #2 in the nation and have been masters of the ACC, except when facing Miami FL, but that is a topic for another article.

Duke is 21-2 and has only lost at Miami and at NC State. They were able to get redemption against NC State the other night when they beat them by 13 points. Miami is coming up on March 2nd.  The Blue Devils are lead by Mason Plumlee in scoring (18 ppg) and rebounds (10.7 rpg).  › Continue reading

cooleyTonight number 11 Louisville is in South Bend Indiana to take on the 25th ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The game tips at 9pm EST and is on TV.   The Louisville Cardinals are favored by 5.5 points.

Notre Dame is 18-5 straight up this season and 10-10 Against the Spread.  They average 72 points scored per game on offense and allow 62 points per game on defense.  Jack Cooley is the star player of this team. He averages just over 14 points per game and 11 rebounds. He is  a force in the middle.  What happens tonight will depend on how good his game is.  Notre Dame is looking to bounce back tonight after a humiliating defeat by 16 points to Syracuse in their last game.

Louisville comes into the game 19-4 SU and 12-10-1 ATS. They average 73 points on offense and allow  just 57 points per game against them.  Russ Smith is the offensive juggernaut for the Cardinals. He is the one that Notre Dame will be keying on.  Louisville is coming off of three straight impressive wins after suffering three losses in a row. Celtics vs Lakers Free NBA pick

lakersThe Los Angeles Lakers have found relative success of late, making the significance of their Thursday night matchup with the Boston Celtics all the more exciting. Can they finally live up to their NBA odds against a playoff-bound Eastern Conference contender?

Although not without uncertainty of their own this season, Boston’s veteran core has produced at rates that Lakers fans could only dream of throughout the first half of the regular season. Despite that, however, it’s the Lakers with the advantage on the NBA futures. › Continue reading

Michigan State vs. Minnesota Basketball Free Pick

michigan-stateToday’s free pick is a 7:00 PM EST tip off Big 10 matchup between Michigan State and Minnesota.  We love handicapping Big Ten action because it is the best conference in the country and there is so much parody that you can taste it in the cold winter air.  Michigan State is favored by 4.5 points.  We like to handicap games much more than totals. There is much more info to work with. So, we will stay away from total analysis on this one.

Minnesota comes into this matchup 17-5 SU and 13-7 ATS.  They just pulled off a squeaker against Iowa a few days ago in Minnesota and failed to cover the ten point spread.  Minnesota has already defeated Michigan State this year 76-63.  They have also defeated USC, Stanford and Florida State. They are bouncing back from a four game skid and have won the last two games. › Continue reading

Indiana vs Michigan Free Pick

indiana-hoopsTonight at 9:00 pm EST the number 1 Michigan Wolverines are at Indiana to take on the number 3 Hoosiers. The spread is currently Indiana -5.5. The initial line was -4.5. The public seems to be riding Michigan on this one which is weird that the line is moving the other way.  There could be some “smart money” on Indiana or bets from sharp bettors that cause sportsbooks to move the line. This in itself is gambling by the sportsbook manager.

Michigan doesn’t have much success when it comes to playing the Hoosiers at Indiana.  In the last 75 trips to Indiana the Wolverines have only managed to win 12 of them! That is a 12-63 record.  Indiana started the season off as preseason ranked number 1.  They are a stacked team. Michigan has worked it’s way up to number one.  This may be the most anticipated game of the season thus far. › Continue reading

Mississippi State vs. Florida Free Pick

Florida-basketballFlorida has been massacring teams this season. It doesn’t matter if it is home or away. They are beating teams and they are beating them good.  Look at the last five: a 33 points win vs. Georgia, a 24 point win at LSU, a 21 point win at Texas A&M, and Georgia fell victim once again three days ago, losing this time to Florida by 17 points.

Florida is 15-2 U and 10-6 against the spread.  Miss State is 8-10 and just 5-8 ATS.  The Gators of Florida average 73 points per game on offense and allow only 51. Their defensive efforts should get as much mention as their great offense.  Miss State only scores about 62 points per game and allows 65. Clearly when you score less per game than you allow it is a bad season.  They do have wins against South Carolina and Georgia which is encouraging for the Bulldogs faithful.  › Continue reading

Oregon vs. Kansas State

Oregon vs. K StateThis is quite possibly the most interesting matchup of the NCAA football post season. These are two power house teams that score at will. Oregon scores an average of 50 points per game and may be the most prolific offense in recent college football history.  Kansas State are no slouches, averaging 40 points per game scored. Defensively both teams allow about three touchdown per game.

Both teams come into the game with an 11-1 record straight up. Against the spread K State is an awesome 10-2 and Oregon is 7-5. Both teams are 7-4 regarding the Over/Unders.  The spread in this game is Oregon -7.5 and total sitting at a monumental 73 points.  › Continue reading

Go with the Green, and take the Pack giving 6 against STL

They may have been the victims of some questionable calls at the hands of the replacement refs during the first few weeks of the season, but even so, the 3-3 Packers have been underperforming relative to many analysts’ expectations so far this year.  With that in mind, along with a recent series of injuries to a number of their better role players, the Pack could understandably raise some definite red flags for bettors at this point in the season.

However, Green Bay still has a surging Aaron Rodgers (13:2 TD-INT ratio over the past 3 games) and one of the deepest – albeit dinged up – receiving corps in the league. That should be more than enough to have them easily cover the 6-point spread against the Rams this week.  Fresh off of an 18 point dominant victory against the then undefeated Texans last week, in Houston no less › Continue reading
