Rays vs Yankees Free Pick May 9, 2012
The season is only 30 games old and the cream has not risen to the top as of yet, but two teams that have played well this season meet tonight as the Tampa Bay Rays visit the New York Yankees. This is the second game of the series and the Yankees won the first game 5-3 on Tuesday night. One thing worrying Yankees supporters is who will take over the closing duties for the injured Mariano Rivera, who has handled that job for close to an entire generation. David Robertson may be that person, as he saved the game last night.
The Yankees are 16-13 on the season and will have rookie David Phelps on the mound tonight. Phelps is 0-1 with an ERA of 3.74. This will most likely be his last turn in the Yankee rotation, as veteran Andy Pettitte will start his season on Sunday. Phelps made his debut as a starter when Rivera tore his ACL. He allowed two runs over four innings but did not get the decision. He has appeared twice in long relief stints, with six strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings.
The Rays are 19-11 on the season and will send Jeff Neimann to the mound. Neimann is 2-3 on the season with an ERA of 4.05. He is 0-3 away from Tampa, but his teammates have only produced four runs in those three starts. Neimann however, has pitched well in New York. He is 2-0 at Yankee Stadium with an ERA of 3.00.
The line has the Yankees as the favorite at home -125, while Tampa is +115. The total is sitting at 9.5. This game will be a hitters game, as both pitchers have proven they are not playing at their top levels as of yet. Take the Yankees to win with the total ending OVER.
Rangers vs Orioles Free Pick May 7, 2012
Two of the top teams in all of baseball thus far in the season meet tonight as the Texas Rangers visit the Baltimore Orioles. The Rangers have dominated the head to head series with the Orioles over the last six games. Texas has outscored Baltimore by 29 runs over that stretch of games. However, this season the teams seem to better matched. The Rangers currently have a record of 18-10, while the Orioles are one better at 19-9.
Baltimore is winners of five consecutive and owns the best record in the American League. The four game series will see the Orioles send Brian Matusz to the mound in tonight’s first game. Matusz is 1-3 on the season with an ERA of 4.67. He had an impressive outing his last time out giving up only one run over 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Yankees. The Rangers will counter with Matt Harrison who is 3-2 on the season with an ERA of 5.40. He won his first three starts this season posting an ERA of 1.66, but has looked miserable in his last two starts.
Chris Davis has been hitting a ton for the Orioles. Davis will be facing his former team for the first time and in his last 10 games is hitting .400 with four home runs and 10 runs batted in. Texas has dropped four of their last five and their offense went 1 out of 7 with runners in scoring position in their Sunday loss to Cleveland. Ranger, Josh Hamilton has a .395 average over his last nine games against Baltimore.
The current line has the Rangers as the favorite on the road at -140, with the Orioles at +120. The total is at 9.5. Take the Orioles in this game, as they will knock Harrison around and the total will end OVER.

Mariners vs Rays Free Pick April 30, 2012
The Seattle Mariners take on the Tampa Bay Rays in game one of a four game set today. The Rays have come out of the gate quick and are 14-8 on the season. They will have Jeremy Hellickson on the mound against the ace for the Seattle Mariners, Felix Hernandez. The Rays beat the Texas Rangers twice over the weekend including a 5-2 win to end the series on Sunday. Ben Zobrist has been hitting well for the Rays as he had a single, double and triple in Sunday’s win at Texas.
Tampa Bay has defeated the Mariners in seven of their last eight meetings in Tampa, including the last four consecutive games. Hellickson is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.84 on the season and is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.61 at home. Last season he was 3-0 with an ERA of 0.81 in three starts against Seattle.
Seattle will have Hernandez on the mound, who is 2-1 with an ERA of 2.48 thus far this season. Over his last two starts, the Cy Young winner is 1-0 with an ERA of 0.60. Hernandez has not had his best stuff in some of his starts but he knows how to get through innings and get through games with a win.
Seattle is currently on a 10 game road trip. They won the first four games, but have lost two straight after losing Saturday and Sunday at Toronto. Hernandez for his career is 3-2 with an ERA of 2.42 against the Rays. Desmond Jennings has an 11-game hitting streak, but is hitless in his career against Hernandez

Atlanta has a record on the season of 11-7, while the Dodgers are 13-5. In their win last night over the Dodgers, the Braves got a home run from Chipper Jones to help celebrate his 40th birthday. Jones is enjoying his 19th season in the majors.

Rivalries in any sport make the sport more interesting and make for great storylines and betting lines. Tonight’s matchup is one of baseball’s most storied rivalries. The Boston Red Sox host the New York Yankees at Fenway Park, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Both clubs have not had the best of starts to the season as the Yankees are just 7-6 on the season and the Red Sox are 4-8.
This rivalry in Fenway Park started on April 20, 1912, exactly one hundred years to the date of tonight’s matchup. Buchholz is 2-3 lifetime in seven starts against New York, but at Fenway he is 0-2 in three starts.
Boston has lost three consecutive games while at home, including a short two game series against the Texas Rangers. Last season the teams met eight times at Fenway and each team won four games. Since the regular season of 2000, the Yankees are 55-54 in their 109 games at the home of the fabled Green Monster. Boston is favored at -105, while Yankees line is +105. The total is at 10. This rivalry usually does not take into consideration won and loss records, all that is left in the clubhouse. The game should be close, but the home team Red Sox will take this game with the total ending Over.
Astros vs Nationals April 19, 2012
Tonight at Nationals Park in Washington, the Washington Nationals host the Houston Astros in the last game of a four game series. Washington has jumped out to a strong start this season as they are 10-3 and that is due to the superb pitching the team has started the season with. The Nationals have taken the first three games of the series against the Astros and will have Edwin Jackson on the mound tonight. Jackson is 1-0 on the season with an ERA of 2.57. The Astros are 1-7 in their last eight games and have lost four straight. Norris’ career record is 1-0 against Washington with an ERA of 2.63. When playing on the road they were 8-6. The line opened with the Orange as 16-point favorites but has come down to 15.5 points. The total is currently at 146.
The Orange is averaging 14 more points per game offensively than their defense is allowing. The Bulldogs are averaging nearly 10 points more per game offensively than they give up. Neither team has any players listed as injured. However, Syracuse was hit with a big blow as their center Fab Melo was ruled ineligible to participate in the tournament.

The loss of center Fab Melo should not affect the Orange in this first round matchup as much as it will further along in the tournament. The Orange have enough other talented players on both sides of the ball to make up for Melo’s absence. The Orange will win SU and ATS with the total paying out to those who take the UNDER. Bucks vs. Bulls NBA Free Pick

Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are owners of the league’s best record at 32-8 and will visit the Bradley Center March 7 to take on the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bulls played excellent basketball leading up to the All Star break and since then have done the same. The Bucks have done just the opposite. The last meeting between the two teams was in late February with Chicago easily covering a 10.5-point favorite spread 110-91. Chicago is 5-0 SU over their last five games including wins at Philly and at San Antonio. Milwaukee is just 2-3 SU over their last five, losing on the road to Boston, Atlanta and Orlando. Chicago will dominate the game with a victory SU and ATS. The total will payout to those who opt for the UNDER as the Bulls defense will shut down the Bucks offensively.

Thunder SU and ATS
The Dallas Mavericks will visit the Oklahoma City Thunder March 5 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Dallas is coming off a win against the Utah Jazz, while the Thunder lost Saturday night in Atlanta to end a recent east coast road trip.
