AFC North

Cincinnat Bengals 2017 Outlook

The AFC North is expected to be a competitive division for the top three places, with the Cincinnati Bengals expected to finish second or third behind the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last season was a big disappointed for the Bengals who finished 6-9-1, but Andy Dalton returns under center and hopes are they will once again be very competitive. The defense will once again be their strength.

Poor playoffs showings have overshadowed that Cincinnati was one of the most consistent NFL franchises between 2011 and 2015. The team played in the postseason each of those five seasons and won 10 games or more four times.

Quality veterans once again left the team via free agency during the offseason which has pressured the draft selections to produce the last two seasons. › Continue reading

Baltimore Ravens 2017 Outlook

The AFC North could be a three-team race this season between Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Baltimore. The big question mark is can Baltimore keep pace with the other two.

The Ravens front office led by general manager Ozzie Newsome and head coach John Harbaugh is one of the best one-two punches in the NFL. However, some football pundits believe the Ravens on the field may be falling behind the rest of the elite teams of the AFC.

Since winning Super Bowl XLVII, the Ravens are 31-33 and in three of the last four seasons have been third in the AFC North, while finishing second the other season.

They have reached the playoffs just once over that period and only one player on the roster, guard Marshal Yanda is listed in the top 100 players by NFL Network, at No. 43. › Continue reading

Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 Outlook

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be the only AFC team with a chance to stop the steamroller known as the New England Patriots from winning a second straight Super Bowl.

The explosive offense that the Steelers have might be the only way to knockoff the Patriots by outscoring Tom Brady and company.

However, the Steelers are too offensive oriented and continue to lack on the defense. The Steelers last season were 11-5 winning the AFC North, but barely. However, it is the offense that carries the biggest part of the load.

Pittsburgh is loaded with talented skill-position players. The hardest part is keeping them all on the field at the same time.

Because of injury of suspensions, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, running back Le’Veon Bell, and wide receivers Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant have played together for just 21 snaps during the last two seasons. › Continue reading

Ravens vs Steelers Free Pick

The NFL has just two games on Sunday during Week 15 due to the Christmas holiday. One of those two games features the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers. The current line on top sportsbooks has Pittsburgh favored by 5.5 points with the over/under point total on 44.5.

Entering the game, Baltimore has an overall record on the season of 8-6 straight up and 6-8 against the spread. On the road, the Ravens are 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS. Pittsburgh on the season has an overall record of 9-5 SU and ATS. At home, the Steelers are 4-2 SU and ATS.

This game is full of playoff implications when these two AFC North heated rivals meet for the second time this season. Pittsburgh will clinch the AFC North with a win Sunday, while Baltimore will win the division with wins over its final two games.

While Pittsburgh has won five straight overall to lead by one game in the division, Baltimore has won four straight over the Steelers, including a 7-point victory on November 6.   › Continue reading

Bengals vs Ravens Free Pick

Week 12 of the NFL regular season continues on Sunday with an important AFC North showdown when the Cincinnati Bengals visit the Baltimore Ravens. The current line on top sportsbooks has Baltimore favored by 4 points with the over/under point total on 40.5.

Entering this game, Cincinnati has an overall record on the season of 3-6-1 straight up 3-7 against the spread. On the road, the Bengals are 1-4 SU and ATS. Baltimore on the season has an overall record of 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS. At home, the Ravens are 3-2 SU and ATS.

The Bengals with just 3 wins in 10 games still remain in contention to win the title in the AFC North, but will face a big challenge against first place Baltimore. Cincinnati has lost its past two games by a combined 5 points and has lost key players to injury heading into this game.

The Bengals trail the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers by 1 ½ games. However, Cincinnati lost star wide out A.J. Green to an injured hamstring and running back Giovani Bernard to an ACL tear. The hope is Green will return this season, but Bernard is lost for the year.    › Continue reading

Browns vs Ravens Free Pick

Thursday Night Football opens Week 9 of the NFL regular season when the Baltimore Ravens host the Cleveland Browns. The current line on top sportsbooks has Baltimore favored by 10 points with the over/under point total sitting on 45.5.

Cleveland enters this game with an overall record on the season of 0-9 straight up and 2-7 against the spread. On the road, the Ravens are 0-5 SU and 2-3 ATS. Baltimore entering this game has an overall record of 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS. At home, the Ravens are 2-2 SU and ATS.

The Browns will try to avoid getting closer to a league record they do not want when they face the Ravens Thursday night. Cleveland will attempt to avoid the franchise’s worst start to a season, but also end any chance of joining Detroit as the only NFL team to go 0-16.

Cleveland lost last week to Dallas 35-10 and has lost once to Baltimore. The Ravens beat the Browns 25-20 back in Week 2, after leading in the first quarter 20-2. Baltimore was slumping entering its bye week, but snapped its skid of four straight games last week with a 21-14 win against Pittsburgh.   › Continue reading

Bengals vs Steelers Free Pick

Week 2 of the NFL regular season features an AFC North showdown when the Cincinnati Bengals visit the Pittsburgh Steelers. The current line on most top sportsbooks has Pittsburgh favored by 3.5 points with the over/under point total on 48.5.

Cincinnati entering this game is 1-0 straight and against the spread. The Bengals on the road are also 1-0 SU and ATS. Pittsburgh entering this game is 1-0 SU and ATS. This will be the first home game of the season for the Steelers.

The last time these two bitter rivals met, the Steelers eliminated Cincinnati in the postseason, which will likely be on the minds of the Bengals when they visit Heinz Field on Sunday. The game will be physical from the start and expect a number of penalties and skirmishes.

Pittsburgh will be without Le’Veon Bell its top running back who is serving a three-game suspension, while Cincinnati will be without starting linebacker Vontaze Burfict who is also serving a three-game suspension.    › Continue reading
