Utah vs Arizona Free Pick

September 20, 2017

Week 4 of the 2017 college football regular season features a Friday night Pac-12 showdown when the No. 21 ranked Utah Utes visit the Arizona Wildcats. The current line on top sportsbooks has Utah favored by 3.5 points with the over/under point total on 61.

Entering this game, Utah on the season is 3-0 straight up and against the spread. On the road, the Utes are 1-0 SU and ATS. Arizona on the season is 2-1 SU and ATS. At home, the Wildcats are 1-1 SU and ATS.

The two most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks in the Pac-12 will meet on Friday when Utah travels to play Arizona. The game will be the opener of the Pac-12 for both teams.

Utah’s Tyler Huntley is No. 2 in the Pac-12 and No. 10 in the nation with total offense of 360 yards a game. He has accounted for 8 of his team’s touchdowns including three on the ground.

Arizona’s Brandon Dawkins leads all quarterbacks in the Pac-12 with an average of 83.6 yards per game on the ground. Dawkins has accounted for nine Wildcats touchdowns thus far including five rushing TDs.

Overall Arizona is No. 6 in the nation averaging 328 yards rushing per game, while Utah has the nation’s No. 2 defense against the run allowing just 49.2 yards per game on the ground.

Huntley and Oregon transfer Darren Carrington II have connected thus far on 26 passes for 410 yards and four touchdowns for Utah.

Defensively Utah linebacker Sunia Tauteoli leads the team in tackles with 18, while Chase Hansen a safety has 14. Utah’s defense is No. 1 in the Pac-12 for total defense allowing just 246 yards per game.

Arizona routed UTEP 63-16 last week with Dawkins throwing three touchdowns passes and rushing for three others. Running backs Nick Wilson and J.J. Taylor give Arizona a strong attack on the ground.

Arizona is 4-2 overall against Utah since the Utes entered the Pac-12 six years ago. However, Utah defeated Arizona last season 36-23.

Hansen did not play for Utah last week due to an unknown injury and his status for the game Friday will not be known until kickoff.

Utah is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 Pac-12 games.

Arizona is 4-13 ATS in its last 17 games played.

With this free pick, we like Utah to cover.
