Week 2 of the NFL regular season continues on Sunday with an AFC showdown from southern California when the Miami Dolphins visit the Los Angeles Chargers. The current line on top sportsbooks has Los Angeles favored by 3.5 points with the over/under point total on 45.5

This will be the first game of the season for Miami since their Week 1 game was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. Los Angeles is 0-1 straight up and 0-0-1 against the spread.

This will be the first official home game for the Chargers in Los Angeles since 1960. The Dolphins may be fresher and more rested coming into this game, but also had to deal with several distractions from the hurricane’s after effects and training in a suburb of Los Angeles the entire week.

The Chargers lost their opener to Denver 24-21 on the road Monday Night, but Joey Bosa the team’s star defensive end said the team was positive after the loss knowing they played well and needed to put it behind them to prepare for the Dolphins, since they had a short week.

Jay Butler will debut under center for the Dolphins, as he came out of retirement to play for Miami after Ryan Tannehill was lost for the entire season with a knee injury.

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake a defensive end, lead a Dolphins defense that is expected to be strong against the run.

On offense, Jay Ajayi rushed for over 1,270 yards last season for the Dolphins and will be looked upon for more of the same this season.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw three touchdowns in Week 1. Los Angeles running back Melvin Gordon managed just 54 yards on the ground, while wide receiver Keenan Allen had five receptions and one touchdown.

The Chargers’ Bosa and Melvin Ingram, another strong passer rusher each had 1.5 sacks against Denver.

Miami is 3-1 SU in its last 4 head to head games with the Chargers.

Miami is 9-20 ATS in its last 29 games against AFC opponents.

Los Angeles is 5-16 ATS in its last 21 games played at home.

With this free pick, we like Los Angeles to cover.
