Auburn vs Clemson Free Pick

September 06, 2017

College Football enters Week 2 of the regular season this week with a number of competitive matchups including a Saturday night game featuring the No. 13 ranked Auburn Tigers visiting the No. 3 ranked Clemson Tigers. The current line on top sportsbooks has Clemson favored by 5.5 points with the over/under point total on 53.5.

Auburn entering this game is 1-0 straight up and against the spread, while Clemson is 1-0 SU and ATS as well.

Auburn opened its season routing Georgia Southern 41-7, while Clemson easily defeated an outmanned Kent State eleven 56-3. Auburn leads the head to head series with Clemson 33-14-2, but Clemson has won three straight in the series.

Auburn was led by quarterback Jarrett Stidham in its opener as the signal caller threw for 185 yards, a pair of touchdowns and one interception. Kam Martin had 136 yards rushing with one touchdown. Daniel Carlson booted two field goals, but missed two other attempts.

Clemson got off to a fine start defending its national championship racing out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter against Kent State. Clemson ended the game with 665 yards of offense while holding Kent State to just 120.

Kelly Bryant the Clemson starting quarterback passed for 236 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He added 77 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Clemson was led on the ground by 81 yards from Travis Etienne, 69 yards by Tavien Feaster, and 51 yards from C.J. Fuller.

Both teams easily won their openers but faced mid-tier opponents. However, this game will be much different as there are top players looking to make their mark and the talent on both sides of the ball is much higher.

Auburn will be looking to avenge its loss last season against Clemson, while Clemson will want to prove it can contend for a repeat national title without players such as Deshaun Watson, Mike Williams and Wayne Gallman, who are now all in the NFL.

Auburn is 5-1 against the spread in its last 6 games versus non-conference opponents.

Clemson is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games against non-conference opponents.

With this free pick, we like Clemson to cover.
