Tigers vs Indians Free Pick

Sunday’s Major League Baseball action includes an American League Central showdown when the Detroit Tigers visit the Cleveland Indians. The current line on top sportsbooks has Cleveland favored at -200, Detroit on +170 and the over/under point total on 8.

Detroit enters this game 38-48 overall and 15-28 on the road. The Tigers are 4-6 in their last 10 games played. Cleveland on the season is 47-39 overall and 21-23 at home. The Indians are 7-3 in their last 10 games played.

Both Michael Fulmer and Corey Kluber were chosen to be on the All-Star team for the American League but neither will be able to pitch in the game on Tuesday because both will be pitching against one another on Sunday in the finale of this AL Central three-game series.

Tigers right-hander Fulmer is 8-6 with an ERA of 3.20 on the season, while Indians right-hander Kluber is 7-3 with an ERA of 2.85 thus far this season.

Fulmer was AL Rookie of the Year in 2016 but did not pitch well in four starts versus Cleveland last season going 1-2 with an ERA of 6.98.

Detroit won five of its seven games earlier this season against Cleveland but has now lost four consecutive to the Indians and is 9 games behind the Indians who are in first place in the division.

Kluber has been having a very dominating run for the Indians, including setting a club record for 10 strikeouts per game or more in five straight starts during one season.

Kluber struggled during a pair of matchups earlier in the season with Detroit going 1-1 with an ERA of 10.61.

Indians first baseman Carlos Santana was activated on Saturday and in his past three games played had 6 hits in 11 at bats.

Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera is riding a five-game hitting streak entering Sunday’s game.

Cleveland second baseman Jason Kipnis had to leave the game on Saturday after suffering an injured hamstring and his status is unknown for Sunday’s game.

Detroit is 2-5 in its last 7 games played.

Cleveland is 4-0 in its last 4 games against opponents from the American League Central.

With this free pick, we like Cleveland to win.
