Giants vs Rockies Free Pick

Mile High City will host a National League West showdown when the San Francisco Giants visit the Colorado Rockies. The current line on top sportsbooks has Colorado favored at -160, San Francisco at +140 and the over/under run total sitting on 11.

Entering this game, San Francisco is 26-41 overall and 12-23 on the road. The Giants are 3-7 in their past 10 games played. Colorado on the other hand is 42-26 overall and 17-13 at home. The Rockies are 7-3 in their last 10 games played.

Colorado won its last outing to avoid being swept for only the first time all season. The Rockies have won 8 of their past 11 overall, but face their rivals in a four-game series at home starting on Thursday.

Trevor Story’s RBI helped the Rockies to a 5-1 win over the Pirates on Wednesday. Story this season has hit three home runs and knocked in nine runs against San Francisco.

Thus far this season, Colorado is 6-1 against San Francisco in head to head action including a three-game sweep in April in which the Rockies outscored the Giants 26-8.

San Francisco has played poorly all season and find themselves dead last in the NL West. The Giants are 4-11 in their last 15 games played. On Wednesday, the Giants lost to Kansas City 7-2.

San Francisco will send Matt Moore to the mound on Thursday. The Giants left-hander is 2-7 with an ERA of 5.28. Colorado will counter with Jeff Hoffman. The Rockies right-hander is 4-0 with an ERA of 2.33.

This season in two starts against Colorado, Moore has not fared well. The southpaw lost both allowing 10 hits and 5 runs in a 5-0 loss April 15 and allowing 9 hits and 6 runs in a 12-3 loss April 22. In his last 5 starts overall, Moore is 0-3.

Hoffman has won four straight starts for Colorado and allowed only one run for three straight starts. On Saturday, Hoffman beat the Chicago Cubs 9-1 after striking out 9.

Carlos Gonzalez an outfielder for Colorado will sit for the second consecutive game Thursday as he is mired in a slump of 0-for24 in the last seven games he has played.

Giants’ third baseman Eduardo Nunez has had at least one hit in 26 of his past 28 games played.

San Francisco is 3-7 in its past 10 games on the road.

Colorado is 8-3 in its past 11 games played.

With this free pick, we like Colorado to win.
