Cavaliers vs Warriors NBA Finals Game 5 Free Pick

Game 5 of the NBA Finals best of seven series will tip off from Oracle Arena in Oakland, California on Monday night when the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors lead the series 3-1.

The current line on top sportsbooks has Golden State favored by 8.5 points with the over/under point total on 231. The line can and often does change so check back here for the latest line prior to tip off on Monday.

Golden State’s perfect postseason ended when Cleveland survived its first elimination game by winning Game 4 at home. Now the series returns to Golden State’s home court and the Warriors can win the NBA title and end their postseason at 16-1 with a victory on Monday.

Cleveland scored 49 points during the first quarter had 86 at the half. The Cavaliers set a number of NBA Finals records including 24 made 3-pointers. However, it was just one win and Cleveland trails 3-1 entering its second elimination game on Monday.

Even though Golden State’s perfect postseason cannot be obtained, the Warriors with a win Monday will win their second NBA championship in the last three seasons.

Cleveland was down 3-1 in last year’s NBA Finals as well and rallied to win three straight and the title. However, this run would need to be four straight and no team in NBA history has won four straight in the Finals to win the title.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving continue to carry the load for Cleveland offensively. James scored 41 and Irving 40 in the Game 4 victory. Kevin Love played solid in Game 4 after a poor outing in Game 3. Love scored 23 points in Game 4.

Kevin Durant continued with his strong Finals scoring 35 points in the loss in Game 5 for Golden State. Four other teammates scored in double figures but not more than 16 points. Draymond Green scored 16, but Stephen Curry scored just 14 and backcourt mate Klay Thompson added 12.

Last season Cleveland trailed 3-1 and won Game 5 of the Finals, but Golden State did not have Green who was suspended and Kevin Durant who was still playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Cleveland is 1-7-1 against the spread in its past 9 games versus teams from the Western Conference.

Golden State is 5-0 ATS in its past 5 games following 2 days off.

With this free pick, we like Golden State to cover.
