Cavaliers vs Warriors Game 1 NBA Finals Free Pick

Game 1 of the NBA Finals best of seven series will tip off from Oracle Arena in Oakland, California on Thursday when the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Golden State Warriors.

The current line on top sportsbooks has Golden State favored by 7 points with the over/under point total on 225.5.

Golden State and Cleveland are playing head to head for the NBA title for the third consecutive season. In 2015, the Warriors won the NBA title, while Cleveland won the final three games of the NBA Finals in 2016 to win the title.

Thus far in the postseason this year, Golden State is a perfect 12-0 and considered heavy favorites to win the NBA Championship. Nevertheless, the Cavaliers are the defending champions and the Warriors will not have an easy time trying to dethrone them.

Cleveland has played extremely well during the postseason with a record of 12-1. Both teams have superstars, great supporting casts and excellent coaching, which should make for a competitive series throughout.

Cleveland’s LeBron James averaged 29.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 9 assists during last year’s NBA Finals and this year is averaging 32.4 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists during the postseason. Kyrie Irving is averaging 24.4 points during the playoffs, while Kevin Love is scoring 17.1 and grabbing 10.3 rebounds per game.

Golden State has not forgotten the 3-1 lead they squandered in last year’s NBA Finals. Kevin Durant is the new player in the mix for the Warriors and is averaging 25.1 points per game. Guard Stephen Curry is averaging 28.5 points per game during the playoffs.

Klay Thompson is averaging 14.4 points per game, which is well below his season average and hitting only 38% of his overall shots during the postseason.

Mike Brown will remain on the Golden State bench as coach for the Warriors as Steve Kerr’s back problems continue.

Love had double-doubles in each of the five games during the Eastern Conference Finals averaging 22.5 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.

Curry was held to 20 points or less in four of seven games during last year’s Finals by the Cleveland defense.

Cleveland is 7-0-1 against the spread in its past 8 games on the road.

Golden State is 20-6-1 ATS in its past 27 games played.

With this free pick, we like Golden State to cover.
