Kansas vs Oklahoma State Free Pick

February 20, 2013

It just does not get much better than this: two teams facing one another for the second time this season, conference rivals and first place in the conference on the line. Tonight the Kansas Jayhawks visit the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a critical must win game for both schools.

Kansas arrives at this matchup with an overall record of 21-4 straight up and 11-13 against the spread. The Jayhawks have won two straight games after dropping three straight and have a record of 5-2 on the road.

Oklahoma State this season has a record of 19-5 straight up and 12-10-1 against the spread. The Cowboys have won 7 straight games and have a record at home of 14-1.

Kansas was able to defeat Kansas State last week 83-62 and then routed Texas on Saturday night 73-47. Currently Kansas is just a half game behind Kansas State for first place in the Big 12 and can tie for the lead with a win tonight against the No. 14 ranked Cowboys, who are also just a half game behind the Wildcats.

In their first matchup head to head, Oklahoma State defeated Kansas 85-80 in Lawrence to end a long running winning streak at home for Kansas. Nevertheless, the Jayhawks remain the team to beat as they have won eight straight titles in the Big 12.

Bill Self the head coach at Kansas calls tonight’s matchup the biggest one between the two schools since his first year at Kansas in 2003, when the Cowboys were still coached by the legendary Eddie Sutton. That year the Cowboys won the Big 12 conference with Kansas tying for second and Oklahoma State behind the tutelage of Sutton made it to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament.

The current line has the Cowboys as the favorite on their home court by 1 ½ points, with the point total for the over under sitting on 135 ½. Smart money is taking the Kansas Jayhawks in this game plus the points, with the total making winners of those putting money on the over.
