Notre Dame vs Pittsburgh Free Pick

The Big East Conference is in the spotlight tonight when the Pittsburgh Panthers host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Both teams have had a very good season and want to continue winning to ensure themselves high seed in the Big East tournament.

Notre Dame enters the game with an overall record of 20-6 straight up and 11-12 against the spread. The Fighting Irish have won two of their last three games overall and are tied for fifth place in the conference with Pittsburgh with a record of 8-5 straight up.  

Pittsburgh’s record is nearly identical to that of Notre Dame. The Panthers have 20-6 straight up and 10-11 against the spread. The Panthers have won three of their past four games overall and have a conference record of 8-5.

Head to head the teams are deadlocked with records of 5-5 SU over the last 10 games between the two schools. In those same 10 games, Notre Dame is 7-3 ATS. The last time the two teams met was in was in December of 2011.

Notre Dame is 3-2 in its last five game overall. In those five games, the Fighting Irish have defeated DePaul twice and Louisville, while they have lost to Syracuse and Providence. The most recent loss was a 17-point defeat against Providence where the Fighting Irish were a 2-point favorite, but could shoot just 39% from the field and made just 1 shot from three-point territory.

Pittsburgh also is 3-2 losses over its past five games played. The Panthers defeated Marquette, Seton Hall and Syracuse in that stretch, while losing to Louisville and Marquette. The most recent game played was a loss Saturday night to Marquette 79-69. The Panthers did not cover, as they were 3-point underdogs. Pittsburgh has the ninth ranked defense in the country allowing just 55.4 points per game.

The line currently has the Panthers as the favorite at home by 10 points, with the point total for the over under is sitting on 123. Smart money is taking the Fighting Irish and the points, while the total will make winners of those taking the OVER.
