Georgetown vs Cincinnati Free Pick

The Big East Conference highlights the Friday Night lineup of college basketball when the Georgetown Hoyas take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. Both teams are having very successful seasons as the Hoyas enter the contest with a record of 18-4 straight up and 11-7 against the spread. Cincinnati is 19-6 straight up and 10-11 against the spread.

The Hoyas are currently ranked No. 15 in the nation and are riding a six game winning streak. However, Georgetown has lost four consecutive games to Cincinnati in their head-to-head series. Georgetown currently has a record of 8-3 in the conference tying them for first place with both Syracuse and Marquette.

This meeting is the only one of the season between the two Big East heavyweights. Last season Cincinnati defeated Georgetown on the road 68-64 during the regular season and in two overtimes 72-70 at the Big East tournament.

The game will likely be dominated by defense. Georgetown gives up just 55.7 points a game on defense, while Cincinnati allows just 58.4 points a game. Both teams are holding their opponents to 38% shooting from the field.

Cincinnati is tough on the boards, leading the conference in rebounding with 41 per game, a plus 7 ½ margin over their opponents.

Cincinnati also plays a pressure defense that will unsettle opponents. Michael Starks the point guard for Georgetown will have to limit his turnovers. Starks is averaging four turnovers per game in his last two games, while scoring at a rate of 16 points a game over his last five outings.

Georgetown’s best player, Otto Porter, combined for just 20 points and grabbed only 8 rebounds in the two games against Cincinnati last season. He comes into tonight’s game with an overall average of 18.6 points a game plus 9 rebounds per games over his last nine outings.

The line currently has Cincinnati favored at home by 3 ½ points with the total sitting on just 117. Smart money is taking the Hoyas, the road ‘dog, plus the points in this matchup. The total will make winners of those who take the over.
