Michigan vs Michigan State Free Pick

Tonight two of the top teams in the nation and the Big 10 meet to renew a long standing rivalry when the Michigan Wolverines visit Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans. The winner’s prize for this matchup is usually bragging right for the state when these two meet, but the stakes are much higher tonight.

Both teams are in the top 10 in the nation and both are near the top in the conference. Michigan is ranked No. 4 in the nation with a record of 21-3 SU and 14-9 ATS. Michigan State is 20-4 SU and 10-11 ATS. The Spartans are ranked No. 8 in the nation.

Michigan State has held the advantage of late in this matchup winning 19 of the last 25 games head to head between the two. The Spartans have a conference record of 9-2, while the Wolverines are 8-3 in conference play.

The last head-to-head meeting between the two teams was at Michigan State last season and the Spartans defeated the Wolverines 64-54 for their 12th win in the last 13 games at home against the Wolverines.

Michigan State is tied with Indiana for the conference lead a game ahead of both Wisconsin and Michigan. On Saturday, Michigan had an opportunity to tie for the conference lead but lost 65-62 to Wisconsin in overtime.

Michigan State at home is tough to beat, as their record is 32-1 loss in their last 33 games overall at Breslin Center. This season, the Spartans are undefeated at home in 14 games and have outscored their opponents at home by an average of over 17 points per game. The Spartans won their last game 78-65 at Purdue for their third consecutive win overall.

The two teams meet a second time in early March on Michigan’s home court in Ann Arbor.

The line currently has Michigan as a 1 ½-point favorite with the point total on 132. Smart money takes the Wolverines on the road to cover, with the total making winners of those bettors taking the under.
