Marquette vs Georgetown Free Pick

Controversy has been the word of the day this year in the Big East with seven schools choosing to pull out and start a new conference of their own nevertheless, this basketball season the competition has been fierce. Tonight, two of the top teams meet in the nation’s capital when the Georgetown Hoyas host the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Both teams sport nearly identical record coming into the matchup with Georgetown having a record of 17-4 SU and 10-7 ATS. Marquette has 17-5 SU and 9-9 losses ATS. The Hoyas have won six straight games overall and at home this season are 14-2 SU. Marquette is winners of two straight games and is 4-4 SU on the road this season.

In their first meeting this season, Marquette was able to upset Georgetown, which has helped put the Golden Eagles in a tie for first place in the conference. Marquette, ranked No. 24 in the nation, will be looking to win its third consecutive game head to head with the No. 20 ranked Hoyas. A win tonight would give Marquette sole possession of the top spot in the conference.

Marquette is 8-2 in conference play and defeated the Hoyas 49-48 back on January 5 to snap a streak of seven consecutive wins by Georgetown. Marquette shares the conference lead with Syracuse and leads the Hoyas by a game in conference play. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles defeated DePaul 89-78, but tonight’s game will start a difficult stretch of 8 games for Marquette against the top teams in the conference.

On Saturday, Georgetown defeated Rutgers 69-63 to lift their conference record to 7-3. Otto Parker scored 10 consecutive points during a second half run to ice the game for the Hoyas. He also had 14 rebounds to lead the team.

Georgetown has lost two straight in this head-to-head matchup, but have won the last two meetings with Marquette at home.

The current line has Georgetown as the favorite at home by 4 ½ points with the total only 122. Smart money is taking Marquette plus the points.
