Spurs vs Nets Free Pick

February 10, 2013

The Big Apple hosts the NBA tonight when the Brooklyn Nets play at home against the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have the best record in the NBA even though they lost their last game to Detroit 119 to 109. The Spurs were forced to spend an extra day in Detroit before heading east thanks to the huge storm that struck the East Coast on Friday and Saturday. San Antonio hopes to return to its winning form tonight following their loss and the snapping of their 11 game winning streak.

The Spurs enter tonight’s matchup with a record of 39-12 SU and 28-21-2 ATS. Brooklyn has played very well this season after moving from neighboring New Jersey to their new home in the Big Apple. Brooklyn has a record of 29-21 SU and 22-26-2 ATS.

San Antonio won their 11 straight games despite having both Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan injured for most of the streak. Tonight, against the Nets they look to return to their winning ways over a team they have dominated. The Spurs are 18-1 against the Nets in their last 19 games head to head, but it will be unknown until game time if either Ginobili or Duncan will play. Duncan has been sidelined seven of the last nine Spurs’ games and Ginobili the past three straight.

The last head-to-head matchup with Brooklyn was December 31 and the Spurs were victorious 104-70. The Spurs held the Nets to only five points for the entire third period, the fewest the Nets have scored in one period during their franchise history. Tony Parker was the high scorer in that game for San Antonio with 20 points, but six players for the Spurs scored in double figures.

Brooklyn has been inconsistent of late, trading wins with losses over their past six games overall. The Nets lost to the lowly Washington Wizards on Friday 89-74. In that game, Deron Williams led the team in scoring with 20, but made only 7 of his 20 shots.

There is no line currently available for this matchup, but smart money takes the visiting Spurs less the points, they will be given as favorite, to cash out.
