Ohio State vs Michigan Free Pick

February 05, 2013

With the Super Bowl and BCS Championship Game over, all attention should now be on basketball, both the NBA and NCAA. Tonight an important Big Ten matchup takes place in Ann Arbor, Michigan when the Ohio State Buckeyes visit the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan is coming off a huge loss to conference rival Indiana and needs this win to keep pace with the Hoosiers. Ohio State has won four straight games and is moving up in the Big Ten Standings.

Michigan has an overall record of 20-2 straight up and 14-7 against the spread. At home this season, the Wolverines are undefeated in 15 games. Ohio State arrives with a record of 17-4 straight up and 11-8 against the spread. The Buckeyes are 5-3 losses on the road this season.

Michigan’s run as the No. 1 team in the country lasted all of a week after they were beaten on Saturday at Indiana. The Wolverines only other loss of the season was to these same Ohio State Buckeyes in early January in Columbus. Both Michigan and Ohio State have identical conference records of 7-2. The winner will remain a game back of Indiana, while the loser drops two games back.

Ohio State has struggled on the road losing in early January to Illinois and again in late January to Michigan State. At Ann Arbor, the Buckeyes will face a loud raucous crowd that has helped the Wolverines to win every home conference game this season by 15 points or more.

Trey Burke has led the Michigan attack at guard, but only managed 15 points against the Buckeyes in their first head-to-head matchup in January. Aaron Craft will play man to man against Burke and was instrumental in forcing Burke to miss on 9 of his 13 field goal attempts in the first matchup.

The Wolverines are undefeated on their home court this season and because of that, the current line has them favored at home by 7 ½ points with the total sitting on 133. Smart money takes the Buckeyes plus the points in this matchup, with the total cashing out on the over.
