Georgia Tech vs. Wake Forest Free Pick

January 26, 2013

At 3:00 PM EST 10-8 Wake Forest is in Atlanta to take on the 10-7 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.  Both of these teams are having a mediocre year and the best chance for them to have a shot at the big dance is to make a conference tourney title run.  Wake Forest is coming off of a big win against N.C. State.  GT, on the other hand, is on a five game slide right now and things are gloomy for the Yellow Jackets.  They have not had a meaningful win since December 4th when they defeated Georgia.

Aaron Rountree IIIAgainst the spread Wake is 11-5 and GT is 6-9.  Statistically, Wake scores 4 points more per game than does GT but the Yellow Jackets allow 4 points less per game than do the Demon Deacons. Originally we went into this game thinking that it is obvious that the team off the big win should beat or at least cover against the team on a 5 game slide.  But after studying it we are not so sure about that. Will this be Georgia Tech’s chance to bounce back and prove they still have gas in the tank and can finish the regular season strong? Will this be the start of a winning streak?  It is quite possible.

If simply betting the team that had strung together some wins vs. the team that has dropped a few was all it took to be a winner in sports betting, anybody could do it. We see that the Oddsmakers have made GT -6.5 favorites. What are they seeing here?  Well, here you go. Wake Forest is just 1-12 of their last 13 on the road.  GT is 12-2 of their last 14 at home. GT is 12-2 in their last 14 when playing Wake.  74% of the public is on Wake plus the 6.5 and you know how much we like betting against the public.

With some trepidation and caution we say take the Yellow Jackets here minus the points.  We don’t love it but things are pointing in the way of a GT win and cover.  Looking for a new sportsbooks? Try Bet Revolution. They are a sportsbook with a buzz. Get top bonuses and more at Bet Revolution.
