Seattle vs Atlanta Free Pick

The Atlanta Falcons host the Seattle Seahawks in a NFC divisional playoff game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The Falcons own the best record in the NFL at 13-3 SU and 9-6-1 ATS, while the Seahawks are 12-5 SU and ATS.

Seattle went on the road last week to defeat the Washington Redskins in the nation’s capital 24-14. The Seahawks used the rushing game to defeat Washington as quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch combined for 224 yards on the ground, while the Seahawks defense was able to hold Robert Griffin III in check, thanks in part to a knee injury that kept him from being as mobile as he usually is. The win for Seattle was their first road playoff win in 30 seasons.

Seattle, if they want to move on to the NFC Championship will have to defeat a tough Atlanta team that loves home cooking. At the Georgia Dome this season, the Falcons were 7-1 SU, with the only loss against Tampa Bay in the last game of the season that did not mean much.

Playoffs however have not been kind to Atlanta. The Falcons are 0-3 under head coach Mike Smith and quarterback Matt Ryan. That includes losing in the first game in 2010 when they were also the no. 1 seed in the NFC.

Atlanta had the easiest 16 game schedule in the NFL this season as their opponents had an overall winning percentage of just .422. However, they were 2-0 against teams that are in the playoffs defeating both the Washington Redskins and the Denver Broncos.

Seattle has won six straight games but Chris Clemons will be out injured and that could hurt their defense. On offense, the running game could be the difference for Seattle as Atlanta was no. 21 in the league against the run and the Seahawks will look to exploit that.

The line has the Falcons as the favorite by 2 ½ with total at 46. Smart money takes the Falcons less the 2 ½ and the OVER.
