Texas A&M Aggies vs. Oklahoma Sooners
January 4, 2013

Johnny FootballThis should be a pretty exciting macthup.  After all it features the talents of freshman Heisman QB phenom Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M.  The Aggie offense averages a sky high total of 44 points per game. Oklahoma is no slouch and averages 40 points on offense per game. On defense the Sooners allow 24 points per game and Texas A&M allows 22.5. The level of competition is close but the edge there goes to Texas A&M. This is their first year in the SEC and they were tested every week.  The major triumph was their beating of #1 Alabama, a team that will be playing in the national championship game in a few days.

Oklahoma is no joke.  Just listen to the list of their last five games, all wins btw:  Iowa State, West Va, Baylor, Oklahoma State and TCU.  Both teams average over 300 yards passing per game.  But Texas A&M averages a full 70 yards more rushing the ball. Oklahoma also allows an average of 200 yards per rushing per game compared to just 140 of Texas A&M. So some mismatches are starting to show through.

Head to head Oklahoma owns the Aggies. Oklahoma is 8-2 straight up in the last ten matchups.  Against the spread, however, they are both 5-5.  Both teams are 10-2 straight up this season. The Sooners are just 6-6 ATS and the Aggies are 7-5.  This would normally be an impossible game to handicap but we do have some angles.  A&M is the team of the immediate future in our opinion. They are building quite the program and joining the SEC was just icing on the cake. We can see this team winning the national championship very soon. That coupled with more balanced offensive attack and Oklahoma’s weak rush defense we have to suggest taking the Texas A&M Aggies here. The spread is currently Texas A&M -3. We suggest taking the money line which is -145 to protect against a close win.

Free Pick: Texas A&M Aggies -145
