Packers vs Vikings Free Pick

December 30, 2012

The NFC North will feature a great matchup to end the regular season as the Green Bay Packers travel to take on the Minnesota Vikings. Green Bay has a regular season record of 11-4 SU, while they are 9-6 ATS. Minnesota with just one game to play in the regular season is 9-6 SU, while they are 7-7-1 ATS.

The Packers have already wrapped you the division title nevertheless, the game has big playoff implications. Green bay can secure the no. 2 seed for the playoffs in the NFC and a bye week, while the Vikings need a win to secure one of the two wildcard spots in the conference.

This season the Vikings have surprised the NFL with their play. Adrian Peterson was lost during last season to an ACL tear and many did not expect him to return to play until midseason and to return to top form until late in the season. Nevertheless, the Vikings’ running back is only 208 yards away from surpassing the 1994 all time single season rushing yardage record of 2,106 yards set by Eric Dickerson.

Earlier in the season, the two teams faced off head to head with Green Bay winning 23-14. However, Peterson rushed in that game for over 200 yards.

On offense, the Packers rely on Aaron Rodgers their All Pro quarterback who thus far has thrown for almost 4,000 yards, 35 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. The Packers running game is nearly non-existent however, the offensive line gives Rodger great protection even though opposing teams are expecting the pass.

The Vikings on offense have the third best team rushing, but are 32nd in passing, which is last. If the Vikings do not establish a running game with Peterson, then Minnesota will have a number of three and outs on offense.

The current line has Green Bay as the favorite by 3 ½ points with the point total at 46. Take the Packers less the spread to cover and the total to make winners of those taking the OVER.
