Dolphins vs Patriots Free Pick

December 30, 2012

The New England Patriots have already clinched the AFC East title, but other playoff implications are involved in their last regular season game against the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots enter the game with an overall record of 11-4 SU as well as 8-6-1 ATS. Miami’s regular season record thus far is 7-8 SU while they are 7-6-2 ATS.

The Patriots can earn home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a win today and a loss by the Houston Texans as well as the Denver Broncos. The Patriots also can clinch a bye week if just the Broncos or the Texans lose today.

Miami however, has no chance of playing in the postseason, but is desperately trying to reach the .500 mark for the season and a win today will give them that. With a win, the Dolphins would gain momentum going into the offseason. Miami also would love to make it difficult for the Patriots to gain home field advantage in the playoffs.

New England, behind All Pro quarterback Tom Brady has the best overall offensive attack in the NFL with the fourth best passing attack and the eighth best rushing attack. Brady has proven again his talents, as he has accumulated more than 4,540 yards passing, 32 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

Brady’s favorite receiver is Wes Welker who has 110 catches on the season, while Brandon Lloyd thus far has caught 73. Even though the Patriots offense is close to the best in the NFL, their defense is almost the worst. New England is ranked no. 28 out of 32 teams defensively this season.

Miami on offense are just 26th in the league and have a rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill leading their offensive attack. On defense, the Dolphins are a bit better at no. 18 overall.

The line currently has New England as the favorite by 10 points and the point total is at 46. Take the Patriots less the huge spread and take the OVER to cash out.
