Steelers vs Cowboys Free Pick

December 16, 2012

The Dallas Cowboys host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a game with playoff implications for both teams. In the past, these two teams have played great head-to-head regular season games as well as Super Bowls. In today’s game the Steelers have an overall record of 7-6 SU while they are 5-7-1 ATS. Dallas enters the game with a record of 7-6 SU and they are 5-8 ATS.

Pittsburgh, because of their loss last week at the hands of the San Diego Chargers, must win its remaining three games of the season if they hope to clinch a playoff berth. The Steelers had Ben Roethlisberger over center again in last week’s game, but the tough quarterback did not look anything like he did earlier in the season. It looked as though his shoulder was still bothering him.

Dallas helped their playoff cause by rallying from a 9-point deficit in the fourth quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals to win the game 20-19 last week. However, the Cowboys lost the services of their star wide receiver Dez Bryant due a torn ligament in his finger. Before being injured, Bryant had caught 75 receptions this season for over 1,000 yards.

The Cowboys are also trying to deal with the death of teammate Jerry Brown Jr., who died last week in a car accident. Brown Jr. was riding in a car with fellow teammate Josh Brent, when the accident occurred and Brown Jr. died. Brent will face criminal charges for the accident and subsequent death of his teammate.

Both teams need this game, so it will be tense and therefore turnovers will play a big part in the outcome. Whichever team can protect the ball better will have the advantage.

Currently odds makers have Pittsburgh as the favorite by 2 ½ points on the road, with the point total on 45. I like Pittsburgh less the pair, with the total cashing out to those taking the OVER.
