Broncos vs Ravens Free Pick

December 16, 2012

The Denver Broncos head east to take on the Baltimore Ravens in a matchup between two division leaders. Baltimore is two games in front in the AFC North, but by no means is comfortable. The Ravens enter this game having lost two consecutive games and have a record of 9-4 SU while they are 5-7-1 ATS. Denver on the other hand, has clinched the title in the AFC West thanks to winning 7 straight games and finds themselves at 10-3 SU, while 7-6 ATS.

Denver has had 10 days off since their last game, as they beat fellow AFC West rival the Oakland Raiders 26-13 in last week’s Thursday night matchup. Denver then watched New England defeat the Houston Texans on Monday night giving Denver some hope in tying up home field advantage throughout the postseason.

After today’s matchup, the Broncos only face the likes of Cleveland and Kansas City in their two final weeks of the regular season and both games are in Denver. Therefore, it is important they win this game to not fall of the pace in the race for home field advantage.

Baltimore having a two game lead in the division with four games remaining should be confident but they are anything but confident. This week they fired Cam Cameron their offensive coordinator and the firing exposes the team to criticism. Baltimore, after last week’s game, was no. 9 in total offense in the league. Therefore, the firing of Cameron might mean there are even bigger problems that have yet to be exposed.

Last week the Ravens lost in overtime 31-28 to the Washington Redskins. Not only did the Ravens allow a second string quarterback to tie the game at the end of regulation, but they gave up a 64 yard punt return in overtime that set up the winning field goal by Washington.

Denver is favored in this game by 3 points as the visitor, with the point total for the over under at 48. I like the Ravens in this matchup, with the total making winners of those taking the OVER.
