Saints vs Giants Free Pick

Just four weeks left in the regular season of the NFL and that means teams are fighting for playoff position. This afternoon in the Big Apple, the New York Giants host the New Orleans Saints in an NFC matchup.

The Giants are currently in first place in the NFC East with a record of 7-5 straight up and 5-6-1 against the spread. New Orleans on the other hand is fighting for its playoff life at 5-7 straight up and 6-6 against the spread.

Last spring when the NFL announced their regular season schedule, many thought this game might be between two teams at the top of the NFC. However, after 14 weeks of the season, the Giants are in a dogfight just to win the NFC East and the Saints’ playoff hopes get dimmer by the game.

New Orleans lost their first four games to start the season, won five of their next six and now has lost two straight. Last week the Saints lost to division rival Atlanta 23-13. In the game, Drew Brees the Saints quarterback had five interceptions. Because of the “bounty-gate” ordeal head Coach Sean Payton has not been on the sidelines to call plays on offense and the defense has struggled week in and week out.

The Giants look one week like the defending Super Bowl Champions they are and the next week they fall flat on their own face. One week they thrash the Green Bay Packers 38-10 and the next week they lose to NFC East rivals the Washington Redskins 17-16. The Giants have four games left, including today and hold only a one game lead over both the Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.

Last season the Saints throttled the Giants 49-24 at home and have won the last three matchups between the two teams. In the last five games head to head, New Orleans has 4 wins and 1 loss straight up and against the spread versus New York.

The line has New York favored at home by 5 with the total at 53. I like the Saints plus the points in this, with the total making winners of those taking the under.
