Bears vs Vikings Free Pick

December 09, 2012

One of the best and longest rivalries will be played out today when the Minnesota Vikings host the Chicago Bears. The Black and Blue NFC North is tied at this point between the Bears and Green Bay Packers. This particular rivalry has seen some of the roughest, toughest and meanest games ever played on the gridiron.

Chicago is 8-4 SU while 6-6 ATS and Minnesota is 6-6 SU while they are 5-7 ATS. Chicago has a much better shot at the postseason since they are tied for first place in the division, but Minnesota’s chances are less as they battle four or five other teams for one of the two NFC wildcard berths.

The teams met just three weeks ago on Thanksgiving weekend and the Bears came out on top 28-10 at Soldier Field in the Windy City. Michael Bush, the backup running back for the Bears had two touchdowns on the ground in the game and the Bears defense shut down the aerial attack of the Vikings.

Chicago must play without their middle linebacker Brian Urlacher, as he will miss the last four games of the regular season with a hamstring injury. That will leave the Bears defense more susceptible to the run, one of the Vikings’ strengths. Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson has 1,446 yards rushing this season and 8 touchdowns.

Chicago will have a healthy Jay Culter at quarterback and Matt Forte at running back as they have recovered from nagging injuries. Minnesota won five of their first seven games this season but has since dropped four of their past five.

The line has Chicago favored on the road by 3 with the over under total on 39. Take Chicago to cover and the total to make winners of the OVER.
