Thunder vs Nets Free Pick

December 04, 2012

The NBA schedule takes us to the Big Apple tonight for a showdown between the Brooklyn Nets and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nets are playing very good basketball thus far early in the season and have a record of 11-5 straight up and 10-5-1 against the spread. The Thunder, one of the league’s best teams, has a record of 14-4 straight up and 12-5-1 against the spread, which is the best record in the NBA against the spread.

The Thunder has won five straight games, including their last outing 100-70 against the New Orleans Hornets as the favorite on the road. The total cashed out on the under for the third time in their last four games. On the road, Oklahoma is 5-2 straight up this season and 3-1 straight up against teams from the Eastern Conference.

Offensively, the Thunder has scored 100 points or more in nine consecutive games. The Thunder also has 8 wins and 1 loss against the spread in its past nine games against teams from the Atlantic division. Head to head, Oklahoma City has won six straight games versus the Nets including last season’s only matchup 84-74 and they have won three straight on the road versus the Nets.

Brooklyn has just completed a three game road trip where they won two games and lost one. In the last six games the Nets have played, the under has cashed out in five. At home this season, the Nets are7-1 loss straight up and they are 2-1 straight up at home versus teams from the Western Conference. In their past six games, the Nets are 4-0-2 against the spread.

The Nets have the second best scoring defense in the NBA as they are giving up just 91.1 points each game and are holding teams to a shooting percentage of just 32.3 from three-point range.

The current line has Oklahoma City favored on the road by 3 ½ with the over under total at 191 ½. Smart money is taking the Thunder less the 3 ½ and the total to cash out to those betting the over.
