Panthers vs Eagles Free Pick

November 26, 2012

Monday night football takes its bright lights to the City of Brotherly Love when the Carolina Panthers visit the Philadelphia Eagles in matchup of NFC teams. Both teams have had a dismal season and their poor records are evidence of that. Carolina is 2-8 straight up and 4-6 against the spread. Philadelphia is 3-7 straight up and 1-8-1 against the spread.

These two teams have been the disappointment of the NFL this season, as both were expected to be playoff contenders. When the schedule was made for the season, most insiders thought this game would be determining playoff positioning and not draft pick positioning.

Last week, the Eagles took it on the chin against Washington 31-6. The loss to the Redskins showed that Nick Foles the rookie quarterback that all Philly fans thought was the savoir is just another rookie quarterback. The Eagles’ defense looked terrible against Robert Griffin III and his offense.

The Panthers have also played much worse than everyone thought they would, but at least they are playing has hard as they can and putting out 100% in each game, unlike the Eagles. Last week, the Panthers lost in overtime to Tampa Bay 27-21. Carolina played very well, but allowed the Buccaneers to drive the length of the field late in the game to tie, and then do the same in overtime to win the game.

The offensive line for Philly has been hit hard by injury and that showed last week when Foles was sacked on four occasions, he threw two picks under pressure and fumbled three times after being blindsided by defensive players. Running back LeSean McCoy may not play as he is recovering from a concussion, which will make the offense struggle even more.

The Panthers, behind the athletic Cam Newton at quarterback will look to run the ball and pass over the top to take advantage of a weak secondary for the Eagles. However, you cannot count Philly out as they are 7-3 against the spread in their past 10 Monday Night Football matchups.

Carolina is currently favored by 3 points with the point total resting at 40 ½. Smart money bettors at a rate of four to one are taking the Panthers less the points. The total should cash out to those opting for the over.
