Florida vs Florida State Free Pick

November 24, 2012

The Florida Gators travel to the capital of Florida to take on the Florida State Seminoles in a battle of two of the top of the top 10 teams in the country. Florida enters the game ranked no. 6 in the country with a record of 10-1 SU while they are 6-5 ATS. Florida State is currently ranked no. 10 in the nation and has a record of 10-1 SU while they are just 4-7 ATS.

The game will have implications for conference championships and BCS bowl berths. Florida State will be playing at a later date in the ACC Championship game and will be trying to win their 11th game of the season for the first time since 2000. The Gators will wrap a slot in one of the BCS bowls if they can defeat Florida State.

Florida is known for its tough defense, especially its front seven. Florida State on the other hand, has one of the nation’s most explosive offenses and is loaded with talent at the different skill positions.

The Seminoles are 3-0 SU against the Gators over the past three games the two teams have played head to head. Each of Florida State’s victories in the past three seasons against Florida were by 18 points or higher.

The Gators own the fourth best overall defense in the country, but their offense at times sputters as it is only ranked no. 104 in the nation.

On offense, the Seminoles are no. 14 overall and average over 200 yards running in each game. However, the Gators front seven is very strong and will look to shut down the run today. Therefore, the Seminoles offense must rely on its passing game if it wants to win.

The Gators are 1-4 ATS in their past five contests, while the Seminoles are just 2-6 ATS over their past 8 contests. At home, the Seminoles are 5-0 over the past five games in Tallahassee.

The current line shows the Seminoles as the favorite by 7, with the total resting at 43 ½. I like the Gators plus the points.
