LSU vs Arkansas Free Pick

Thanksgiving weekend football changes from the NFL to the NCAA today as the LSU Tigers visit the Arkansas Razorbacks for an important game for the Tigers’ postseason. LSU enters the game with a record of 9-2 straight up and 5-6 against the spread. Arkansas has a record of 4-7 straight up and 2-9 against the spread.

This rivalry has ended the regular season for both schools for years. Last week LSU was behind late in the game before rallying to beat Ole Miss by the score of 41-35. With a win today against the Razorbacks, the Tigers can keep alive their hopes of a bid in a BCS Bowl and try to reach 10 wins on the season for the third consecutive year.

Arkansas’ season has not seen anything fall in their favor this year. Before the season started, many had the Razorbacks contending for the National Championship, following last season’s successful 11-2 season. Instead, Arkansas struggled from the start under a new coach.

Arkansas has had difficulty winning games straight up, but even more so against the spread. At home, the Razorbacks are just 1-6 against the spread in their past 7 games. If the Razorbacks hope to stay close in the game and steal it late, their defense needs to step up. In their seven straight up losses this season, Arkansas has allowed an average of 41 points per game.

LSU has a great power running attack and is averaging nearly 190 yards each game on the ground. This season the team has more than 2,000 total yards rushing. Zach Mettenberger, the LSU quarterback has played well of late. Last week he completed 22 of his 37 passes for 282 passing yards, but threw two interceptions and not touchdowns.

The current line has LSU favored on the road by 11 ½ points with the total at 51. At this point, Arkansas is not playing well and can be described as a bad football team. Take the Tigers less the big spread to easily win this game in a big way. The total will cash out to those opting for the over.
