Patriots vs Jets Free Pick

November 22, 2012

Gobble Gobble Gobble!!! Thanksgiving Day is here and that means turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pies and FOOTBALL. Tonight in the Big Apple, the New England Patriots visit the New York Jets in an AFC East rivalry matchup.

The Patriots come into the game with a record of 7-3 straight up and 6-4 against the spread. The Jets have not experienced the same success and are 4-6 straight up and 6-4 against the spread.

The big feature in this game will be Tom Brady, but whatever he does in this game will be hard to top what he did last week when the Patriots manhandled the Indianapolis Colts 59-24.

In that game, Brady had 331 yards through the air and three touchdown passes. The Pats scored two other touchdowns rushing the ball while the special teams scored on a punt returned and the defense returned two picks for touchdowns.

New York also had a big win last week as they snapped a losing streak of three games with a 27-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams on the road. The Jets ran the ball 41 times and only passed it 21 times.

The Patriots lead the AFC East by three games and could knock the Jets out of any hope for the postseason with a win tonight. Brady and his teammates will have a hard time repeating what they did last week and he might look to run first and pass second to start this game.

The Jets defense is 30th in the league against the rush and that might be the reason Brady looks to run to start the game. The Patriots defense against the pass is equally as bad as the Jets against the run and they too are ranked 30th in the league in that category.

Last season New England was 2-0 SU in the two head-to-head games with the Jets. This season, the Patriots also won the first head-to-head game versus New York 29-26 in overtime.

The current line has the Patriots favored on the road by 7 with the total for the over under at 48 ½. I like the Jets to cover in this game.
