Texas Tech vs Oklahoma State Free Pick

November 17, 2012

The Oklahoma State Cowboys host the Texas Tech Raiders in a big matchup tonight. Texas Tech comes into the game ranked as the no 23 team in the country. The Red Raiders record is 7-3 SU but 6-4 ATS. Oklahoma State meanwhile is 6-3 straight up while 5-4 against the spread.

This matchup of Big 12 teams has revenge in mind. Last season the Cowboys galloped over the Red Raiders by a score of 66-6 in Lubbock, Texas and this season Texas Tech will look to return the favor on the Cowboys’ home field.

Even though the Red Raiders are ranked no. 23 in the nation, the Cowboys are favored by more than 10 points. One reason for that is Texas Tech has lost two of their three last games after winning six of their first seven. The losses sustained by the Red Raiders were to a tough Kansas State team and to an average Texas team. Texas Tech barely defeated woeful Kansas 41-34 last week.

Oklahoma State has won 4 of its past 5 games straight up. Their only loss in that stretch was to the no. 1 ranked team in the BCS standings Kansas State.

The offenses for the two teams are very powerful. Texas Tech averages over 506 yards a game ranking them no. 10 in the country, while Oklahoma State owns the no. 4 overall offense, averaging more than 561 yards each game. The advantage the Cowboys have is their offense is more versatile as they can run and pass almost equally as well.

Texas Tech is only 1-6 against the spread over its past seven matchups with Oklahoma State. The Cowboys have a record of 4-1 SU over their last five games against the Red Raiders.

The line on this game has the Cowboys as the favorite by 9 ½. The points total is resting on 73. Look for lots of points, with the Cowboys being the way to lay money, while the UNDER will cash out on the point total.
