Stanford vs Oregon Free Pick

November 17, 2012

The nation’s new no. 1 team, the Oregon Ducks, face the Stanford Cardinal in a matchup of two Pac-12 schools in Oregon.

The Ducks come into the game with a record of 10-0 SU and are 6-3 ATS, while the Cardinal is 8-2 SU but just 4-4-2 ATS. This will probably be Oregon’s toughest test the rest of the season as they attempt to make it into the BCS championship game. Currently the Ducks are no. 2 in the BCS rankings trailing only Kansas State. Oregon has the nation’s highest scoring offense. They will be facing a Stanford team that has one of the better defenses in the nations. Nevertheless, odds makers have made the spread in favor of Oregon by more than 20 points.

Oregon scores an average of 55 points a game and rushes for more than 325 each game. In the passing department, the Ducks are in the top 40% of schools averaging 250 yards per game. Overall, Oregon is averaging nearly 600 yards each game on offense, an incredible figure.

Stanford has won two games this season against teams that were in the top 15 and went into overtime against Notre Dame before losing. Defensively the Cardinal only allows 17 points each game. At present, Stanford is the no. 13 ranked team in the country and could break into the top 10 with an upset win.

Oregon has a record of 6-0 ATS over its past 6 conference games and the Ducks are 4-0 ATS against opponents that are playing above .500. Stanford is 6-2 ATS over its past 8 contests against opponents who have records above .500.

Currently odds makers have given Oregon a favorite status by 20 ½ points. The total for over under purposes is at 66 ½. Take Oregon to cover, even though Stanford’s defense is tough. The total will make winners of those who like the OVER.
