Hawaii vs Air Force Free Pick

November 16, 2012

The Friday night football spotlight shines on Colorado tonight when the Air Force Falcons host the Hawaii Warriors. The Falcons have a season record of 5-5 straight up and 3-7 against the spread. The Warriors have not fared as well and are just 1-8 straight up and 2-7 against the spread.

This season has been below average for Air Force but they are huge favorites in this matchup against Hawaii and with a win will be eligible to play in a bowl in the postseason if selected. Hawaii’s season can only be described as disastrous.

The Warriors have been known in the past to have a high potent offense that scored many points, but under Norm Chow their new coach, the offense just vanished, as they averaging less than 300 total yards a game offensively ranking them 117 out of 120 schools. Hawaii’s only win of the season was against lowly Lamar 54-2, back in the second week of the season. Hawaii has lost seven consecutive games. Against FBS opponents this season, Hawaii has been outscored 388 to 122.

Air Force’s offense is a different story than Hawaii. The Falcons rush the ball down the throat of their opponents by using an option style formation that can be hard to defend against. The Air Force averages 335 yards a game rushing putting them second in that category nationally. Defensively Hawaii had given up more than 200 yards rushing per game this season, which ranks them 116 in the nation. This will work right into the offense mindset of Air Force as they will run run and run some more or until Hawaii can stop them.

Hawaii has 1 win, 6 losses and 1 push against the spread over their past eight games and over their past five games, the Warriors have a dismal 0 wins and 5 losses against the spread.

The current line has the Air Force favored by a whopping 22 points and the total at 61 points. I like the Falcons to win big in this matchup so I will take Air Force and give up the 22 points and I like the OVER to cash out as well.
