Cowboys vs Eagles Free Pick

Two teams that have seen much controversy off the field and bad play on the field meet today in Philadelphia. The Dallas Cowboys visit the Philadelphia Eagles in a NFC East game between two longtime rivals.

The Cowboys enter the game with a record of 3-5 SU as well as ATS. Dallas is 0-2 SU in their last two games overall and 2-3 SU playing on the road. Philadelphia has a record of 3-5 SU as well and a 1-6-1 record ATS. At home this season, Philadelphia is 2-2 SU but overall has lost their last four consecutive games.

Dallas was beaten last week by the Atlanta Falcons by the score of 19-13. It was Dallas’ fourth loss in their past five games. Off the field, owner Jerry Jones had caused controversy by saying he will never relinquish his role as GM. He also brought doubt into the minds of many as to whether Jason Garrett, the team’s Head Coach will last the rest of the season or be fired.

However, as crazy as it may be in Dallas, it is just as bad if not worse in Philly. Last week the Eagles lost to the New Orleans Saints 28-13 in a game they should have won. The Eagles, in five possessions inside the Saints’ red zone committed three turnovers, had an interception run back for a touchdown and lost possession of the ball on downs.

Trying to get a grip on handicapping Philadelphia has been a tough thing to do this season. Quarterback Michael Vick and his offense played well early in the season, but have performed poorly over their four game losing streak. They also lost Todd Herremans, their starting right tackle last week and that will make a porous line even thinner against a Dallas pass rush.

The Cowboys are favored in the game by 2 ½ points after the line opened with Philly favored by 2. I like the Eagles plus the 2 ½ to cover.
