Texas A&M vs Alabama Free Pick

November 10, 2012

Two top 16 teams hook up today when the no. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide hosts the Texas A&M Aggies who are ranked no. 16. The Tide this season is 9-0 SU, while they are 5-4 ATS. Texas A&M has a record this season of 7-2 SU and is 5-4 ATS.

This came will be characterized by the nation’s toughest defense taking one of the highest scoring offenses. Last week Alabama played at LSU and squeaked by the Tigers 21-17. It was the first game this season that Alabama trailed late into the fourth quarter, but the Tide, led by A.J. McCarron their quarterback drove the ball 72 yards for the winning touchdown. McCarron was completed four of the five passes in attempted in the drive.

The win kept alive the National Championship hopes for Alabama and guaranteed them a spot in December’s SEC Championship. However, the game also proved that Alabama is capable of being beaten and is mortal after all.

Texas A&M will enter the game with the only thought of scoring as many points and as often as possible. They won last week 38-13 against Mississippi State who at the time was ranked no. 15 in the country. The Aggies are led by quarterback Jonny Manziel. The freshman completed 30 of the 36 passes he attempted against the Bulldogs. This season he has a completion percentage of 69% with 16 TD passes and only 6 picks.

Alabama will look to shutdown the passing attack of the Aggies and keep their offense off the field by having a successful running attack and eating up the clock. A time of possession advantage for the Tide is essential in this game.

The line currently favors Alabama by 13 ½ points with the game total points at 56 ½. Take Texas A&M and the big spread to cover, with the total making winners out of the UNDER crowd.
