Oregon vs California Free Pick

November 10, 2012

Tonight’s NCAA football matchup might seem like David versus Goliath as one team is favored to win by more than four touchdowns, but do not be fooled this game will be exciting and full of offense from the first kickoff to the last whistle.  In a Pac-12 game, the Oregon Ducks travel to Berkley, California to take on the California Golden Bears. The Ducks are ranked no. 2 in the country and will be looking to score points quickly and often.

Thus far, Oregon is 9-0 straight up and 5-4 against the spread.  The Ducks are 6-0 in the Pac-12. California on the other hand is 3-7 straight up and against the spread and 2-5 in the Pac-12. In this series, Oregon has won the last three consecutive matchups.

Oregon defeated USC last week in a shootout 62-51. This season the Ducks have scored at least 42 points in every game and are leading the country in scoring with an average of more than 54 points each game.  On defense, Oregon has held opponents to just an average of 23 points each game. Kenjon Barner is the team’s offensive sparkplug at running back. Barner has run for nearly 1,300 yards and has scored 19 touchdowns.

Cal lost last week to Washington 21-13. The Golden Bears have lost their last three consecutive games. Offensively they are averaging only 24.5 points each game, while their defense is allowing nearly 28 points a game.  Zach Maynard, the Golden Bears’ quarterback has accumulated 2,214 yards in the air and 12 touchdowns. However, he may not play due to an injured knee.

The home team in this matchup has won the last four games. Cal has a record of 1 win and 7 losses against the spread in their past 8 games played on grass. Oregon has a record of 6 wins and 1 loss in their past 7 games on the road.

The current line has the road Ducks favored by 28 ½ points, with the point total at 66 ½.  Even with such a huge spread, 90%  bettors are taking the Ducks to win less the points. Nine of ten bettors are taking the point total to cash out to the OVER in what is expected to be a lopsided victory for Oregon. Still we are taking Cal on this one.
