Spurs vs Clippers Free Pick

Tonight all eyes will be on Los Angeles, as the Los Angeles Clippers host the San Antonio Spurs. These are two of the best teams in the Western Conference and in the NBA. Thus far, this season, the Clippers are 2-2 straight up and against the spread, while the Spurs are 4-0 straight up and 2-1-1 against the spread.

The Spurs have been very dominant against the Clippers and lost season that included both the regular season and the playoffs. Last spring the Spurs swept the Clippers in four games during the playoffs in the second round, before they were eliminated in the finals of the Western Conference by Oklahoma City.

Over a period of years, the Spurs have won 48 out of the past 54 head-to-head regular season games against the Clippers. San Antonio has also won 24 of the past 28 games against the Clippers on the road, including two games that were during the playoffs.

The four consecutive wins for San Antonio to open the season is a record start for the franchise. On Monday, the reserves scored 57 points when the Spurs defeated Indiana in a rout 101 to 70. The Spurs have a great deal of depth and will need it as last year they ran out of gas during the finals in the West. Tim Duncan is back for his 16th season and leads the team in scoring and rebounds.

The Clippers have lost their past two games at home this season. On Monday, Los Angeles lost to Cleveland 108-101 after turning the ball over 25 times. Chris Paul is leading the team in scoring thus far, while Blake Griffin the team’s All Star power forward scored 20 against Cleveland on Monday. Thus far, Los Angeles is averaging 104 points per game, which is nearly 7 points higher per game than they averaged last season.

The current line has San Antonio favored on the road by 1 ½ points, with the total at 200. I like the Spurs to cover the 1 ½ and for the total to cash out to those that bet the under.
