Magic vs Bulls Free Pick

The NBA season starts its second week tonight and two teams that have started on the right foot tip off tonight in Chicago when the Orlando Magic, sans Dwight Howard, visits the Chicago Bulls. Orlando traded away Howard in the offseason to the Los Angeles Lakers, but thus far, his absence does not seem to have affected the team. Orlando has had a perfect start winning both of their games so far.

Orlando opened their season last Friday with a 102-89 win over the Denver Nuggets and followed that up with a 115-94 win over the Phoenix Suns this past Sunday. However, even though the season has started well in the win loss column, injuries have already started to concern coaches.

Hedo Turkoglu, the Magic’s small forward will be lost for a number of weeks after he broke his hand Friday night against Denver. Jameer Nelson, the team’s point guard will be questionable for the game tonight with a strained groin and hamstring that caused him to miss Sunday’s matchup against Phoenix.

Five players for Orlando are averaging 12 points or more thus far and they are holding their opponents to less than 41% from the field. Glen Davis is leading the team in scoring with an average of 25.5 points per game and in rebounds with an average of 9 per game.

Chicago is 2-1 to start the season. They are still playing without former MVP Derrick Rose who is out recovering from ACL surgery. Luol Deng another All Star for the Bulls, has started slow thus far and is averaging just 13.3 points a game. On Saturday, the Bulls lost at home to New Orleans after beating Cleveland away the night before.

The Bulls have an outstanding scoring defense as they are giving up just over 87 points per game. If they lose tonight, it will be the first time they have lost two consecutive games at home since March of 2010.

Chicago won the last time the two teams met last season 86-59 in March and Orlando won the last time the two played in Chicago 99-94 and have won three of the last four played in Chicago.

The current line has Chicago as the favorite at home by 9 ½ points and the total sitting at 188. Smart money bettors are taking Orlando four to one to cover the spread as a road ‘dog. Expect the total to payout to bettors taking the UNDER.
