Steelers vs Giants Free Pick

November 04, 2012

The Pittsburgh Steelers visit the New York Giants in what is expected to be a great matchup between two teams with great quarterbacks and defenses. The host Giants have a record this season of 6-2 -straight up and 4-3-1 against the spread. The Steelers have a record of 4-3 straight up and 3-4 against the spread.

The Steelers won last week against Washington 27-12. The win was their second consecutive and the thoughts of the old Steel Curtain defense returned as the Pittsburgh defense held the explosive offense of Robert Griffin III and the Redskins to just 225 yards in the game.

The Steelers only allowed the Redskins to convert on 3 of their 12 third down situations. On the offense, the Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger connected for three touchdown passes and has looked better each week.

The Giants however, might be the hottest team in all of football at this point. Last week the Giants allowed Dallas to come back from a 23-point deficit to take the lead, but awoke in time to make a comeback and win the game 29-24. The Giants are winners of their last four consecutive games and are now separating themselves from the other teams in the NFC East.

The Steelers running game is almost no existent because of injuries to their running backs and with some of their offensive lineman. However, Big Ben is averaging over 273 yards per game. The offense for Pittsburgh is averaging 24 points per contest.

Eli Manning the Giants signal caller has his offense both running and passing the ball successfully. On the ground, the Giants are averaging 115 yards per game and Manning is averaging 282 yards per game through the air.

On the road, Pittsburgh has 1 win and 7 losses against the spread over their last eight games away from Pittsburgh. New York has 9 wins, 1 loss and 1 push against the spread in their past 11 games versus teams with a record over .500.

The call on this game is tough as Hurricane Sandy interrupted the practices of the Giants during the week. The Giants are favored at home by three points and the total is sitting at 48. I like the Giants to win straight up, with the Steelers covering the three points and the total cashing out to those who opt for the under.
