Buccaneers vs Raiders Free Pick

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit the Oakland Raiders for a matchup of tough defenses and mediocre offenses. Oakland has won two consecutive games and comes into this matchup with a 3-4 SU as well as ATS record. Tampa Bay is 3-4 SU but 5-2 ATS.

Both teams are just a game under .500 and are fighting to get back into their division races and possible postseason action. Tampa is 2-1 in their past three games both SU and ATS. Ten days ago, the Bucs crushed the Minnesota Vikings 36-16 on Thursday night. In that game, the Bucs were a 5 ½-point road ‘dog and covered easily.

Oakland has won two of their past three and two consecutive. They are currently only a ½ game behind San Diego for second place in the AFC West. They defeated division rival Kansas City last Sunday 26-16. The Raiders were also road ‘dogs in that game by 1 point.

The Bucs lost starting left guard Carl Nicks to a season ending foot injury. His loss will hurt the offense in the running game, but more importantly in pass protection. Prior to the season starting, the Bucs lost their starting left guard as well.

Tampa allows close to 398 yards a game and 22 points. The defensive unit is ranked 25th in the NFL, while the Raiders pass offense gains 264 per game thanks to the strong arm of quarterback Carson Palmer.

The Tampa defense is ranked sixth in the NFL against the run and that will help them to try to stop Darren McFadden, one of the NFL’s best runners.

The teams have met just 6 times since 1993 and Oakland has a 4-2 SU record and a record of 3-3 ATS in those six matchups. The OVER has cashed out five times in those same six games.

The Raiders are favored by just 1 ½ points in this contest with the point total at 47. I like Oakland at home in this matchup with the total making winners of those taking the UNDER.
