Raiders vs Chiefs Free Pick

October 28, 2012

The Oakland Raiders visit Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a tough AFC West rivalry. The two teams have not played well this season, but the rivalry alone brings out the best in each team. Currently the Raiders have a record of 2-4 SU as well as ATS. Oakland is in third place behind San Diego and Denver who are both 3-3 on the season. Even though the Raiders are two games under .500 they find themselves just a game out of first place.

Oakland defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend in overtime by a score of 26-23. Kansas City is currently 1-5 SU on the season and has lost its last three games. The Chiefs’ offense is struggling and its coaching staff has decided to make a change at quarterback. Head Coach Romeo Crennel has decided to bench starting quarterback Matt Cassel in favor of Brady Quinn.

The Chiefs have lost all three home games this season, while the Raiders are winless in three games this season on the road. Kansas City is coming off a bye week and should be well rested. They lost to Tampa Bay 38-10 the weekend prior to their bye. Quinn will be up against the NFL’s no 22 ranked defense in his first start for the Chiefs. The Raiders defense has only had 7 sacks thus far in the season.

The Chiefs will try to establish a ground game to take the pressure off Quinn to start the game. Kansas City has Jamaal Charles in the backfield. Charles returned this season from an ACL tear that cost him the entire year last season. He currently is sixth in the league in rushing with 591 yards and an average of 5.1 per carry.

The Raiders are 2-5 ATS over their past 7 games. Oakland is 6-0 ATS however, against Kansas City in the past six matchups played in Arrowhead Stadium.

The line in this game has Kansas City favored at home by a single point with 42 set as the total. The UNDER looks like a good play in this game. If you need to pick the winner, take Oakland and the point.
