Texas Tech vs Kansas State Free Pick

October 27, 2012

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will visit the Kansas State Wildcats today in a huge Big 12 matchup. The Red Raiders are 6-1 SU as well as ATS this season, while Kansas State as a perfect mark at 7-0 SU along with being 5-1-1 ATS.

The Wildcats are ranked no. 3 in the nation and the Red Raiders are currently ranked no. 14. Both teams are high scoring and the game should end with scores in the 30s for both teams.

Kansas State, behind Collin Klein, their quarterback, thrashed West Virginia in their last game 55-14. At the time, the Mountaineers had been ranked no. 13 and have one of the leading candidates for the Heisman Trophy in Geno Smith. Klein however, upstaged Smith in the game by passing for 323 yards and hitting three for touchdowns.

Three weeks ago the Red Raiders lost to Oklahoma, but they have followed that up with a blow out of their own 49-14 against West Virginia. Last weekend Texas Tech needed three overtimes to beat TCU 56-53.

Texas Tech is ranked no. 11 in overall offense with an average of 516 yards a game. The passing offense for Texas Tech is currently no. 4 in the country averaging 361 yards each game. Defensively, the Red Raiders have held opponents to just 282 yards a game, which is no. 7 in the nation.

Seth Doege, the quarterback for Texas Tech is completing over 70% of his throws this season. He has thrown for 13 touchdowns and 1 interception. The Red Raiders are 5-1 SU over their last six head to head games versus Kansas State.

The current line for this game has Kansas State as the favorite by 7 ½ points. The point total is 60 ½. The game should be back and forth with lots of scoring, but the Red Raiders should hold their own. I like Texas Tech plus the 7 ½ with the total making winners of those taking the OVER.
