Arkansas St. vs Louisiana Lafayette Free Pick

October 23, 2012

NCAA football fanatics get an early week present when the Arkansas State Red Wolves visit the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns on Tuesday night in Lafayette, Louisiana. Thus far, in the season the Red Wolves are 4-3 straight up and 3-4 against the spread. The Ragin Cajuns are 4-2 straight up and just 2-4 against the spread.

This is the second consecutive week the Ragin Cajuns have had a game early in the week. They played last Tuesday as well and were in front early 13-6 against North Texas. However, their defense was tired in the second half, allowed a number of big to the North Texas offense, and lost the game 30-23. The loss for the Ragin Cajuns was just their first Sun Belt Conference loss.

The Red Wolves held off South Alabama last week to win 36-29 and increased their conference record to 2 wins and 1 loss. The Red Wolves offense turned the ball over three times and only had 316 yards on offense, over 125 yards below their average.

Arkansas State is led on offense by Ryan Aplin its senior quarterback. He is completing 64% of his passes, has over 1,590 yards passing and 11 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions. He will be going up against one of the poorest defenses against the pass tonight in the nation. Louisiana Lafayette allows over 292 yards passing per game and that ranks them 112th in the nation.

Terrance Broadway their quarterback, who has a 60% completion percentage, 877 yards passing, five touchdowns and two interceptions, leads the Ragin Cajuns on offense. Two running backs share the rushing duties and both are averaging over 5 yards per carry.

In their past five games on the road against Louisiana Lafayette, Arkansas State has lost all five games straight up and overall head to head Arkansas State has 1 win and 6 losses against the spread versus Louisiana Lafayette in their last 7 matchups.

The current line has Louisiana Lafayette favored by 4 points with the total at 61 ½. Take Louisiana Lafayette less the points and the total to cash out to the OVER.
