Lions vs Bears Free Pick

The NFC North has a great rivalry that has been played for decades and one more chapter will be played tonight when the Chicago Bears host the Detroit Lions. The Bears sit atop the division, while the Lions are in last place thus far. Chicago’s record this season is 4and1, while Detroit has a record of 2 and 3. The Bears are currently a half game in front of the Minnesota Vikings and two in front of Detroit.

The Bears are coming off a bye week and have dominated the series against the Lions of late. Chicago has 7 wins and 1 loss straight up against Detroit in their last 8 head to head matchups. At home last season, the Bears defeated the Lions 37 to 13. A bench clearing brawl took place in the game after Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford ripped the helmet of Chicago Bear D.J. Moore during an interception return by Tim Jennings of the Bears.

Chicago’s defense has been superb thus far this season and two Bears’ defenders Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman set an NFL record when they both return interceptions for touchdowns in two consecutive weeks. The Chicago defense has 13 interceptions thus far during the season, which leads the league. The Bears’ defense is also allowing just over 14 points per game, which is also leading the NFL.

The Lions defeated the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend by a score of 26-23 after trailing in the game by 10 points with only five minutes left in regulation. Jason Hanson, the veteran place kicker for the Lions connected on four field goals in the game, including one in overtime to win the game. Detroit had 16 penalties in the game and must change that if they expect to defeat the Bears.

Stafford had 311 yards passing in the game, with one touchdown pass and one interception.

Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler has 10 touchdowns and just one interception in his last six games versus Detroit. Chicago has 8 wins and 2 losses in their last 10 games on Monday Night Football. Chicago has outscored Detroit in their last four games head to head by over 14 points while winning all four games.

The current line as Chicago favored by 6 ½ points with the total resting at 47. Smart money bettors are taking Chicago less the points with the total paying out to those bettors opting for the OVER.
