When it comes to NFL football rivalries, this matchup on Sunday afternoon is as good as they get. The New York Jets visit the New England Patriots in a game that should be full of pushing and shoving and hooting and hollering. The two teams have identical records this season as both have records of 3-3 straight up and 4-2 losses against the spread. Even though both teams have lackluster records, they both are tied for first in the division as all four AFC East teams sport a 3-3 won loss record.

The Patriots lost a tough game at Seattle last weekend giving up a late score to in the loss. New England has beaten the likes of Tennessee, division rival Buffalo and Denver, but have lost too Baltimore and the likes of Arizona and Seattle. However, the offense for New England is not their worry spot. They are in the top 4 in the NFL in both passing and rushing yards and lead the league in scoring, averaging over 31 points per game. The return of Aaron Hernandez will help the offense even more.

The Jets were written off by most football fans after they were humiliated by the San Francisco 49ers 34-0 and then lost a tough game to the Houston Texans 24-17. Nevertheless, the team returned last weekend to beat the Indianapolis Colts by the score of 35-9. Mark Sanchez has struggled calling the signals for the Jets and has completed less than 50% of his passes thus far. In their win last Sunday versus the Colts, Shone Green ran for an impressive 161 yards on the ground and added three touchdowns.

New England has four wins and one loss against the spread, in its last five games versus teams from the AFC East. Head to head the Patriots have five wins and two losses against the spread against the Jets over the past seven games they have played one another.

The line currently has the Patriots as the favorite by 10 ½ points with the total at 47. Smart money takes New England less the 10 ½, with the total making winners of those who take the OVER.
