Connecticut vs Syracuse Free Pick

This matchup would be a basketball lover’s dream the UConn Huskies taking on the Syracuse Orange, but before everyone thinks it is a preseason basketball game, it is NCAA football. Tonight under the Friday night lights, the Huskies who are 3-4 losses straight up and 2-4-1 ATS visit the Orange who have a record of 2-4 losses straight up and 1-4-1 against the spread.

The Orange is leaving the Big East Conference after this season to join the ACC, but before they go, they will play one more game in primetime at the Carrier Dome as a Big East member.

Paul Pasqualoni the former coach at Syracuse coaches UConn. The Huskies enter this game having lost their last two games, including a disappointing 17-14 loss in overtime to Temple at home last week. The Huskies blew out of the gate quickly and led 14-0 in the first quarter, but could not hold on to the lead and were tied with only 14 seconds remaining in regulation. The Huskies missed their field goal attempt in overtime and Temple was able to convert theirs for the win.

At Syracuse, things are not much better. Two weeks ago, the Orange upset Pittsburgh, but lost on the road against Rutgers last week 23-15. The momentum in the game against Rutgers changed when the Orange had a field goal blocked and Rutgers ran it back for the score.

Connecticut cannot do anything on the road. The Huskies are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games. The Orange have not played well against conference opponents as they have 0-6-1 against the spread in their last seven games on against Big East opponents.

The current line has Syracuse favored at home by 4 ½ points with the total sitting at 43 ½ points. The best wager in this game should be the points. The under has cashed out seven of the last nine games that UConn has played on a Friday night. The under has also cashed out 15 times in the past 22 Syracuse games against opponents from the Big East.

To play safe take the under, if you want a team take Syracuse less the points.
