Broncos vs Chargers Free Pick

A battle out west takes place tonight when the AFC West leading San Diego Chargers take on division rival the Denver Broncos in an important division matchup. San Diego is 3-2 straight up and against the spread this season, while Denver is 2-3 straight up and against the spread.

The game will matchup two very strong quarterbacks when Denver’s veteran Peyton Manning comes to town to take on a younger gun in the Chargers’ Philip Rivers.

Denver lost 31-21 to New England last weekend when they turned the ball over three times early and could not recover. They did score 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter however, the early turnovers made it impossible for them to get any closer.

San Diego lost to the New Orleans Saints 31-24. The game was an offensive shootout, as the Chargers had 427 yards on offense and led by 10 points during a large portion of the third quarter. However, the defense could not stop Drew Brees and the Saints made a comeback for the win.

The road team has dominated the head-to-head series between the two teams of late. In the two games last season, the road team won each with Denver defeating San Diego 16-13 in San Diego. The visiting team has five wins and just one loss straight up in the last six head-to-head matchups. The road team also has a record of 4 wins, 1 loss and 1 push against the spread in the last six matchups of the two teams.

Denver has played well against other AFC West opponents and has 4 wins and 1 loss against the spread in their last five games against AFC West teams. However, they have 0 wins and 4 losses against the spread on Monday night against AFC West opponents. Even worse is their record of 2 wins, 8 losses and 2 pushes against the spread over the past 12 games against San Diego.

The line currently has San Diego favored by 1 point with the total as 47 ½. Take Denver in this matchup with the total cashing out to those taking the over.
